Actors Who Turn You On/Off To a Film

Can't see any movie with Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.

Otherwise I'm pretty open.

I'll admit that I enjoyed the heck out of "Pitch Black" and "Chronicles of Riddick." Maybe Vin Diesel was just well cast.

Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Paul Walker going over a cliff in the same stretch-Hummer limo wouldn't particularly bother me, though.

Those were parts made just for him...kept him in the dark and had a limit of five lines.

I'm done with Robin Williams, Jack Black and Ben Stiller. I no longer can stand Williams on talk shows saying 'don't be afraid,' Black's wild-eyed over annunciated delivery, or Stiller acting like a confused put-upon nerd. It's old and lame. Hollywood crowned these guys as funny and expect us to agree. I predict two more flops to round out the trifecta and a coming wave of public indifference to these guys, starting with Williams' Man of the Year, to be followed up by Night at the Museum and the Tenacious D movie. (I hope I am wrong about the D movie but it looks pretty bad. The songs from Pick of Destiny are already on iTunes and they are sooo not funny.)

..and also Mickey Rourke should have gotten an Oscar for Sin City.

Ed Norton is probably one of our best actors. He has the uncanny ability to become the characters and not simply be Ed Norton playing the character.

Didja see 'The Illusionist?" My wife and I both went in scratching our heads, thinking, 'Ed Norton as the mystical romantic lead, not seeing it...' but we walked out convinced. Just about everybody in that movie was just great.

Just thought I'd contribute...

BTW it's funny to see that the majority of the actors listed in this thread are male actors.

I used to think along these lines, but have been so pleasantly surprised at times by certain actors that hadn't impressed me yet -

* Reese Witherspoon in Walk the Line
* Ryan Gosling in The Believer
* George Clooney in Syriana

- that I give everyone the full benefit of the doubt now. Clean slate once I sit down and the lights fade.

The good: Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis, Jack Nicholson, Hugo Weaving, Gary Oldman, Natalie Portman, Cameron Diaz (for serious films), Rachel Weisz, Jennifer Connelly

The Bad: Val Kilmer, Catherine zeta jones,

I like Keanu Reeves. He's not the greatest actor but I think hes charismatic enough to be a leading man.

Having said that, I am watching "A Walk In The Clouds" right now and his performance is abysmal. He is just not heroic, humorous, drunken, etc. All the things this part required. His performance makes me cringe. Its a beautiful movie but man oh man is he bad.

I didn't *want* to like GWH...avoided it for a year...then saw it on video and had to admit I liked it. But, different strokes for different folks.

Just out of curiousity, what about it rubbed you wrong?

Keanu Reeves is one of those people who is great fun in the right role, but lacks the range to work outside what he's innately good at. Which, I guess, is the difference between a movie star and an actor.
