traveling with mac book pro

Just got my macbook pro in the mail the other day. I am going to be using an external hard drive for travel. You don't put that or the laptop through the x-ray machine at the airport right? I just want to make sure!!!!!

they made me send everything through the x ray machine, HVX, macbook pro, hard drives, then they patted them all down for explosives with some fancy machine and cloths.

x-ray machine won't hurt your stuff.

Most airports make you take a laptop out of it's case, and then take off your shoes, then everyone goes through the magical portal of saftey.

yup. what i thought was wierd was when i had to go through the X Ray machine, but they said it was procedure. :P

Yes, it has magical powers that can see into the depths of a person's soul and reveal all your sins so they know if you're a good witch or a bad witch...

I just wonder if they figure the metal from the laptop case will obscure something hidden inside the bag.

I usually go through with mine in sleep mode incase they need to see that it really works.

Course, when I passed my HVX in it's bag in Hawaii they scanned it about three times, opened it up and swabbed it for explosive residue four times.

I guess when you have a big blocky thing with three batteries and a bunch of wiring in the bag, they look a little closer. :)

Don't airports have kind of like MRI machines to check checked baggage? Now THAT I would think would fry a hard drive.

I've got my MacBook Pro 2.33 coming in a couple of days and was wondering if anyone could suggest a reasonably priced drive enclosure kit that would throughput 3 gigs per second. I'll be using seagate 7200.10 drives via sata 2 expresscard 34 slot = both run 3 gigs but I have not found a kit that will transfer at the same rate. 1.5 gig throughput kits are the only ones I've found so far. Any suggestions?
