Vegas only uses 100mb of ram during rendering?

I built a new computer with intel duo core 4 meg cache and installed 3gigs of RAM for use during vegas rendering, however no matter what I render. Task Manager shows Vegas never using more the 100-105megs of Ram. Is this normal if so whats to point of all the extra RAM that everyone says is important?

I searched and came up with nothing
 
well look at it like this

Lots of RAM+ Fast CPU = Good realtime playback
Fast CPU = Fast Rendering

When rendering RAM is not really a factor. Since the CPU renders frame by frame and then writes to a hard drive, the RAM only has to store that individual frame while the CPU renders it. Now if you are working with uncompressed 4K footage, well having more RAM I'm sure would be a benefit to the render time.
