Unable to play quicktimes in real time

Hi, I am working on a project in broadcast that mixes mxf files from the dvx100 and animation quicktime files. The mxf stuff plays in real time, but the quicktime animation, even when highly compressed and small will not. Is there an efficient way of working with quicktimes in Broadcast? Proxy files are fine, I can replace the footage later. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't tell you for sure, but what you may want to do is convert those quicktimes in Procoder wizard to something more Edius friendly. Something that Edius can handle in real-time. Canopus HQ or maybe DVCPRO avi, or something. Kind of a guess though. Sorry I can't tell you something more definite. But that would be my first try.

MXF files from the DVX100?

Have you investigated where the bottleneck is? Is the CPU pegged, are you out of memory, or is the disk unable to keep up?

I would try altering the project settings to use the Canopus HQ codec. That should allow real-time performance with all of your assets.
