Simple question from a newbie. I can only justify buying SONY Vegas Movie Studio + DVD Platinum. The problem is if I shoot in progressive mode with my Panasonic DVX100 cam can I place that footage into the time line and edit it and burn to DVD using the above software.

Yes, but you won't be able to edit in native 24p or make a 24p DVD.

If you go this route, always shoot 24p standard, not 24pA.

EDIT: Wait; you're in NZ. No 24p for you. Just edit 25p in a PAL timeline and you're fine.

Thanks for your reply. Very sharp of you to notice that I am a PAL user. I have found before that I got few or no replys if I talk PAL and say I have a DVX102B so forgive my white lie. As long as I can edit my 25P footage on Vegas Movie studio Platinum +DVD software I can burn a progressive DVD using my 'TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress' encoder software if Vegas wont do it. You seem to indicate that being a 25p user that the software should handle all?

I don't know for sure if it can out a progressive file for DVD, but it might be able to.

Not that it *really* matters. A 50i file of 25p material is very difficult to distinguish from a 25p file visually, and pretty much impossible on a standard TV.
