Vegas or Avid for this project....??

In order to make an anamorphic DVD at 2.35:1, you need to have black bars in the image. Your DVD will be 720x576 no matter what, so if you want wider than 16:9, you lose part of the 16:9 image to black bars. No way around it.

Work in a 16:9 project and apply either a mask or crops to get you to 2.35:1.

David > Ive set pixel aspect ratio in the settings as square pixels. I hope thats ok and wont affect my final dvd out in anyway. Im getting a cinescope without adding cropping black bars. I mean if i just untick stretch to fill frame (which comes on the same panel where we name the file to save) then it automatically adds bars on the top and bottom (Letterboxing) is this ok too or do i have to put the actual bars on the top and bottom ? In project settings ive chosen Progressive Format and Blend Fields. I hope thats ok too.

If you crop your events to 2.35:1 and render to 16:9 with that box unchecked, the black bars will be added automatically, yes.

You can render with square pixels, but it doesn't get you anything. In fact, you'll force DVD Architect to re-render the video with a 1.457 aspect ratio, and that'll just take up lots of unnecessary time.

Good workflow: work in a Widescreen project. Crop your footage to 2.35:1. Render as PAL Widescreen. No worries.

You'll have to do it manually. It's approximately 720x447. You can enter the 447 directly into the pan/crop tool "Height" under "Position."

Adjust to taste. No one's going to take a ruler and measure it out, so if you're a little off, no one will know. Or care.

i thot maintaining the 1024x466 and then after loading in the dvx footage go into pan & crop and say match to project output ratio. This wayi get it trimmed plus i can manually pan and scan to active elements on the footage. Plus the higher pixels than source mught help like uprezzing to a certain extent at least to help in smoother effects and colour correction etc. Then finally burn like you said while unticking stretch footage to match aspect. Will this workflow hurt in anyway ? Am i doing anything wrong ? Ive found that this slight uprezzing is making a slightly better quality output when compared to working at the standard output resolutions.
