Is there a way to disable the timecode while bringing in footage?

I need to just dump an entire tape into FCP but want to disable whatever feature in FCP that reads the tape's timecode.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks

In the capture window (apple-8) click on the Device Control tab... or Control tab... or something like that. Anyway - it will say Non-Controllable device.

I'm just real curious as to why you'd need no time code on a capture? Very interesting concept.

FCP is going to assign TC one way or the other, there is no such thing as a clip with no timecode. Even if FCP captures without the original tape's TC, it'll assign it's own. It has to, as there's no other way to measure it, and measuring clips is the heart of an NLE.

Don't want TC, eh? Why? You've peaked my curiosity!

i need to dump an entire tape into FCP without it stopping and this specific tape has a few time code breaks in it.

do you know how i can achieve this?

I do it all the time. In your User Preferences, set "On Timecode Break" to "Warn after capture".
