Found this on DVInfo, thought I'd pass it on here:

They've announced a couple of tiny 3-CCD AVC-HD 1080 camcorders. One records to SD cards, the other records to mini-DVDs. SD-card one due Dec. 1st, DVD one due Dec. 15th. 1/4" CCDs, and the SD-card model gets a companion mini-"P2 Store" for field offloading of 4GB SDHC cards.

Bet they won't be charging "HVX" type prices for it though! and again I doubt that the P2 store will come down to a reasonable price either :(

Indy... in China

Looks like it is heading where we want (the next DVX?). Maybe we could get something by NAB. I am drooling over the new Canon A1, but not excited about HDV. The HVX is still not cost effective for run and gun international work (for me).

Keep us posted!

Consumer and Broadcast are different divisions of the same company, and they usually release different product entirely. Unlike Sony, there's not much overlap in the Panasonic lineup. Sony usually releases a Consumer version (such as the FX7 or VX2000) and a Broadcast version (such as the V1U or PD150) of the same basic product. Panasonic doesn't seem to do that.

As such, I doubt that these first-round AVC-HD camcorders really give any indication as to what the Broadcast division will do with the format.

Same answer as I gave before -- we'll end up doing the exact same thing we did with HDV; waiting for the NLE manufacturers to get around to introducing support.

Don't forget that it was over TWO YEARS from the time JVC introduced the HD1 until Avid and Apple introduced HDV support. Did that wait kill off the HDV format?

AVC-HD is the coming juggernaut. It will get sorted out. And it will obsolete HDV in short order. And yes, editing applications will adapt; at the bare minimum Vegas will have support shortly.
