Buying a Marshall monitor - What else?

Hi,

I just bought a HVX-200 and a Redrock M2 Adapter. Now I am in need of a Marshall V-R70P-HAD monitor for the flip.

What accessories will I need to get that working? Will it come with a onboard battery? Do I need a "toga" arm? If so which one.

Mainly I just want to order the right stuff all at the same time. Instead of getting the Marshall then realizing that I don't have "that" then have to wait to get that and find out I need "this"

Any advice would be great!

Thanks

Nebtek seem to be sold out of the battery adapter. Is there another place to get the Panasonic battery adapter?

Also could someone point me to the best online price for the Marshall?
I have been looking at Zacuto.com but maybe there is a better place.

And what noga arm is everyone using?

I bought mine from ZGC.com - fast and very friendly service and they also have the Nebtek modified screens.

OK hope this helps.
The Noga arm you will need is this one.

Its perfect for the job. You might find it cheaper at B&H but Zacuto are excellent in all respects.

Obviously this all ways a fair bit, so will be on a tripod. So I don't recommend the Panasonic version of the Marshall from Nebtek for a couple of reasons. I am sure its a good bit of kit, but batteries won't last very long.

Instead, if you can afford it, there's a far better way of doing it.

Get the Zacuto base plate and rod system.

You will need three sets of 15mm rods. One set comes free with the plate.

Another set comes free with the Double mount, which is needed to hold the Noga arm to the rods.

And you will need another set of 15mm rods for the M2.

Now you are almost there.

You will need the red Plate which attaches under the double mount.

Attached to the red plate is the Anton Bauer Battery plate with Panasonic tap.

Now, you can power the HVX and the Marshall monitor from one power source.
You take the power from the Anton Bauer to the Marshall with one of these.

Then of course to finish off, you need some Anton Bauer Batteries and a charger. These are expensive new but you can pick them up from Ebay in good working order. I got a charger and 4 Tripack batteries for less than $200, and all hold their charge fine.

So there you go. Not cheap but works superbly and lasts hours, and no heavy batteries on the back of the marshall!

Name me old fashion, but for proper framing I need a viewfinder I can see through with one eye. I hate the 'digital cam' style or 'studio style' framing and focussing work. I need to get " in" the subject, and use the other closed eye for short orientation purpose. The way it is done for years and years.

I hate all monitors during the shoot, except for viewing, testing, calibrating and editing.
