FS-100 version 2.0.1 is now available for download from the Focus Enhancements support website at: http://www.focusinfo.com/support/downloads.asp . This maintenance release improves the performance of FS-100 and it is recommended that all users update to this new version. Specifically, version 2.0.1 addresses the following issues:

Version 2.0.1.05102406:
- Improved disk performance
- Changed fan control algorithm
- Corrected shut-down sequence when over temperature
- XML now supports 16:9 in DVCPRO50

Thanks Matt, just as I finished, I have to go redo the places of the FS-100 video tutorial where we mention version numbers! Great!

Just kidding, not a problem to do. Looking forward to 3.0. Thanks for keep us up to date!

Warning to Mac users. The standard decompression of ZIP files in OSX uses Stuffit Expander by default. I've found on two machines that this update file (test both the one with and the one without the manual) freeze Stuffit.

Solution: righ click on the ZIP file you download from Focus, go to Open With. You should see an alternative called BOMAArchiveHelper. Use this, will decompress the flle just fine. Not sure what the problem is.

I have tested this on my MacBookPro running OS10.4.7 and downloaded using Safari. I did not see the issue BenB is reporting. Has anyone else had this problem? I would like to get it fixed ASAP.

To answer the other question, we are hoping to have FS-100 version 3.0 available sometime this month. Here is a link to the press release: http://www.focusinfo.com/company/article.asp?id=160142

Basically, 3.0 is going to add native QuickTime support for DVCPRO HD and DVCPRO 50 recordings for direct FCP import as well as native frame rate recording for DVCPRO HD 720p24/25/30 recordings.

Thanks,
Matt

I had a problem unstuffing the files as well. I actually opened the Stuffit Deluxe application and unstuffed them one at a time. Using 10.4.8

Stuffit Expander is free if you have trouble. Every Mac owner should download Stuffit

Re-read my original post. Stuffit is the problem. It comes with every Mac, always has. It is the default a Mac will use for ZIP files.

Will there be any limitations on the footage being sent from the camera?

What do you mean by limitations? Aside from how much footage will fit on the dirve, no, not compared to a P2 card. The FS-100 actually enhances the HVX-200 by adding features such as time lapse settings and SNAP that the HVX can't do on it's own. You can also generate TC from the FS-100, use 2 FS's linked, etc.

But as for any limitation of footage being sent by the camera, no, it's what you get on a P2 card, metadata and all. If it's a format the HVX will shoot, the FS will record it.

Hey, Ben. What's the word on your tutorials? I'm looking forward to checking out your offerings.

Working, working, working, working, working, working, working.

And then on that day that I don't, I work.

Any day now...

If I had to mow that lawn, rider mower or not, I wouldn't have the time either. ;)
