Discuss amongst yourselves...

Blaine, I'm glad to see someone included the shortlived but fantastic band Cream!

0.The Beatles(If they are on the list it has to be first)
1.Cream(the most talented band of any era but out of control egos)
2.Rolling Stones(longevity counts)
3.Jimi Hendrix Experience(creator of "Heavy Metal")
4.Led Zepplin(concerts were a blast and a great lineup)
5.Black Sabbath(Ozzy was great)
6.The Who(would be higher but for the popish nature of their music)
7.Lynard Skynard(can you say "Southern ROCK")
8 The Allman Brothers Band (How can they not be on anyones list?)
9.Alice Cooper(I can't help it they were great in concert in the 70s?)
10. Metalica ( Even this old dog enjoys "Enter the Sandman")

Honorable mentions include,Bob Segar, The Jeff Beck Group, Iron Butterfly,Jethro Tull,ACDC, The James Gang, Deep Purple and Mountain.

It all depends on what you mean by greatest. :)
Of course. It's subjective, so the definition is left to your discretion. That's what makes this type of thread fun; it asks for our opinions.

I'll have to get back to this topic after further reflection. My Top 5 are easy, but after that it's difficult to decide.

5. Bob Dylan
6. Lynrd Skynrd

yeah "greatest" is a pretty loose term..... heres 10 bands that I think are/were highly influential, time-less musicianship..... all around rocking.... in no particular order

Neil Young/Crazy Horse
Jimi Hendrix/The Experience

now with that said..... NONE of these bands would be around if it werent for....

Robert Johnson
Howlin Wolf
Muddy Waters
Blind Lemon Jefferson

some more contemporary "great" bands IMO....

U2
