Can someone help me with this?

1) ken burn effects with pictures in FCP,
2) Ken burns effects with fonts (you know, the fonts zoom in or pans slowly)..
Can't figure out how to do them?

Can Motion 2.0 do it?

Thanks

Super easy to do in FCP. You want to open the clip from the Timeline into the Viewer. Go to the Motion tab. All the controls you need are there. In the Canvas, you can even use the Image + Wireframe function to do a lot of work with the mouse, too.

Text can be zoomed, moved, and keyframed in the same manner.

All this is really quick and easy inside of Final Cut Pro. It's a bit involved, so I won't detail step by step here at this moment. But check the manuals for how to keyframe. That's the whole secret, keyframing.

I'd recommend the book, Advanced Color Correction and Effects in Final Cut Pro 5 from Peachpit Press.

You know, I wish they'd just add a "Ken Burns" filter to FCP and FCE and get it over with once and for all. Of course then the Apple FCP forum would dry up and wither away.. wait.. no there's still the "my text is blurry.." posts to keep it going.

PS does anyone know what a good mic is? :P

I just bought an AT2020 and love it. Good for VO or instruments too. $99US!!!!!

text is blurry.. hmm so how do you fix that? rasterize it? I just bought a Rode NTG2. pretty good mic!

Text, never use pure white, use off white, deinterlace, that about fixes it ever time for me. It's an issue with every NLE.

For simple V.O. work, the Samson CO1U rocks. Yes it does. For anything else, spend as much as you can afford. And find a good sales engineer to help pick the right mic for your specific situation. I have used Sweetwater Sound for years and have always had great experiences with them.

I was joking.

Can someone post me a complete guide .. hell make me a website dedicated to showing me every mic on the market including foreign and rare discontinued collectors items with detailed comparisons and sound clips, and then on top of all that comparison shop the internet for me so I get the best possible deal?

My text is blurry... c'mon. That's gotta be in the top 3 all time asked NLE questions.

I guess I won't be quitting my day job quite yet to become an internet smartass because clearly I blow at it. :)

oh yeah well I knew you knew and was pulling a double mindgame...just like how now I know you're thinking im mentally handicapped but it's all part of my plan.

Someone actually does have a Ken Burns effect plug-in out. I've used the demo if it and didn't find it saving me any time. Using the Wireframe + Image set up in the Canvas, plus the tools available to work directly in the Canvas to move, resize, and crop images, filter favorites I've built, I can get the effect pretty fast and easy.

It's so easy and simple, I don't see how a plug it would do you any good.

Just did a project this way using the motion tab and it worked fine, but why can't I figure out how to "smooth" the center point. Also, is there a better way to keyframe motion? I'm coming from Liquid and there was a large area you could use to keyframe effects very easily. FCP seems vastly superior to Liquid, but this and making project backups seem to be two areas where Liquid may have the upper hand.**

**this is after only having used FCP for a week, so I may just need to learn better ways to handle these items**

Ok, in FCP, you want to duplicate this window layout by manually dragging the windows around.

Then go to Window > Arrange > Save Window Layout...

Remember that you can resize windows two ways, grab between them and resize dynamically, or grab the bottom right corner and resize just that one single window independently.

Of all the custom layouts Apple supplies, you'd think they'd include this one. I use it for doing intense keyframing. Works great, gives you more Keyframing real estate than you'll ever need.

Also, learn the tools pallete, learn to do all those Motion tab things directly in the Canvas with the mouse. That'll save you tons of time, also.
