8 Films To Die For latest info

hi guys,
sorry if i screwed up and posting again. putting on a 35-city horror weekend all independently is ambitious to say the least.

the weekend pass is $75. it's good for all the movies, and gets the holders get entrance into the after parties(very limited. sorry, just don't have that kind of money).

tickets go on sale midnight, friday 11/27, at horrorfestonline.com, fandango, moviefone, and movietickets.

i think there's a ninth film shown on sunday. i can't confirm it, but i saw an early list and asked about one that would be cool to get for the weekend. after dark says no, it's too expensive - - but they said it a little too quickly. i get a strong feeling that they'll spring it on as a surprise.

thanks guys for your interest. i recommend the weekend pass for everyone since you get the extra film. i know $75 seems like a chunk, but spread over 9 it's not bad. and anyone can use it so maybe you can split.

the main thing i want to say is after dark really wants to make this an annual event for fans. there's a lot of visionary directors that don't get their dues, and a lot of films that don't get their night in a theater because the studios can't sell them to tweens. after dark wants your input.

the forum function will soon come online at horrorfestonline.com and i encourage you guys to comment. if the films suck, tell us. if they're great, tell us. all i ask is you be specific and insightful. we know what we like, and your opinions will shape the next festival. sundance wasn't always !SUNDANCE!... ok, it's a bloated sow of a suck-up fest now, but "8 film to die for" doesn't have to be that way. it'll be up to the fans.

in complete honesty: i got 2 weekend passes for the weekend in l.a., but i put them into the pool for website contests because i want people to go and see these cool films. go and enjoy some good flicks.

thanks all,
tonyvu

hey guys,
if you've tried to buy tickets online over the weekend, my apologies for them not being available.
there's so much to cover and frankly we missed our date.
everyone is working triple time to clear the bottleneck to make the purchase a smooth process for everyone. after dark is really committed to bringing the 8 films to fans, and they've worked hard to secure the special 9th film.
please bear with our delay. thanks all.

so when can we purchase them again from these sites? where's the info on what cities it will be showing?

Tickets are for sale!

Tickets are for sale!

hey guys,

sorry for not being more frequent. it's been a crazy blur.

TIX ARE FOR SALE ONLINE! this, of course, depends on whether your favorite theater lists online. but fans have been able to purchase advance tickets.

i owe you guys some background. as you guys probably found out, after much, much wrangling with the ticketing sites, there are no weekend passes. This is due to the fact that online tix sites are set to sell tix to individual theaters for individual showtimes. They do not sell tix for multiple movies or showtimes in one placed order. What after dark was attempting was a new way of purchasing that they’ve never done before and there was not enough time for them to write and test new code to accommodate us.
On top of that, there was coordination with the theater chains. Even if the online agencies agree, the chains need to approve also. So in the end we had to go with traditional individual tickets this year. I suspect that if we were new line and the festival was lord of the rings there’d be new code lickety-split and the theaters will sign-off before we can hang up the phone. But we’re independent and, well, you know…

we were disappointed, but the the energy became focused on getting online tix sites to post. and TIX ARE FOR SALE!
you know by now after dark is still including the ninth film on Sunday – one show only – for folks who can show proof of purchase for all eight films. It’s “snoop dogg’s hood of horrors”. They’ve worked hard to get this film included, which is in the tradition of the great ‘tales from the crypt’ – well, with snoop you probably should expect the cryptkeeper to roll a fat spliff or two….the audience will also be receiving collector’s edition t-shirts of artwork from “8 films” which is done by crash mccreery, the character and creature designer for “pirates of the caribbean”, “jurassic park III”, etc…you should check out his creds on imdb. Truly impressive. The guy’s done everything.

also, after dark is going to sneak preview "the tripper" in select theaters in the l.a. area. a fuller announcement will come next week. "the tripper" is a special engagement that will be released to 500 theaters i nthe first half of 2007.

I think after dark is also trying to arrange q&a with directors and cast. They’ve also mentioned holding a screenplay contest, a la greenlight project, with a $50,000 prize to the winner and production of the screenplay to include in the next “8 films”. They are brainstorming to find ways to thank fans for their tremendous interest in “8 films”

Anyway, everyone is still working 24/7 to smooth the process for fans and to ensure the success of “8 films”. This is our first year and we’ll take this experience and put it into our effort for next year. Everything we’re learning will make next year even better in every aspect. I encourage movie fans to attend the films. Our encouragement is SEE ONE OR SEE THEM ALL. That’s not an empty marketing ploy. Go see the films and let after dark know at horrorfestonline.com how to make next year and all the years after greater and greater.

thanks guys, very much.

they're here!

they're here!

hey guys,
well, it's been kind like grunting out a giganto log(i mean that in the best way), the movies are opening today.
just a quick note of thanks for your interest. here's some pics of a home-grown thing we did last night with the filmmakers and cast in la. great time, great people, no bs, no egos. my thanks again for your support of 8 films.

So at 8:00 last night i went to see Gravedancers, at my local theatre, and from the stench in the place I thought i was at a decaying graveyard. Looking around at the other patrons I soon realised whare the stench was truly coming from; People who had obviously been there all day. the kind of people that probably bought one ticket for all the shows. Good luck getting a decent seat! I have to admit I did like the movie, but not at first. The acting was bad, I didn't realise till later that it was supposed to be bad (at least i hope it was) What ensued was probably the funniest horror movie that I had ever seen. And it should be marketed exactly that way. Reccomended for the fun factor, like a haunted rollercoaster snowball with a few fun scares. Unfortunatley, though the only horrific aspect of this movie was those I was watching it with.

we worked on gravedancers go mike!

Haha. That's the one film I saw from the festival. It started out trying to be a more serious horror film and veered into straight comedy towards the end. :)
