1080 footage jittery

I shot a fall scene yesterday and I did a pan down from the sky to water across fall trees. The footage on the way down looses resolution or has wavy lines, not exactly sure how to describe what I am seeing. If there is not a pan it seems sharp. I shot in 1080i, and the project settings are set to:
Generic OHCI HD 24hz, DVC Pro HD 1080,23.98 over 59.94i. Rendering set to DVCPro hd avi. I did render the files. In the 720p mode I do not have to render.

Something is having trouble rendering the image and I am not sure if it is my settings, computer (which is very fast), or my monitor (Dell 30"). Any suggestions?

Thanks

What frame rate was the footage shot in? 30p, 24p?
That framerate should be chosen in project settings. You might eliminate some of the strobby effect in the monitor and best of all, help with playback.

Jim's on the right rack here.

If you shot it 1080/60i, you should set your project to the same framerate otherwise EDIUS will do framerate adjustment which can cause stuttery motion.

I shot the footage at 1080 24p. I have the Projects settings as OUTPUT DEVICE Generic OHCI HD 24hz and Output Format DVCPro HD 1080/23.98 oer 59.94i. The rendering format is DVCPRo HD avi.

My 30" Dell Monitor is set to 1920 by 1080. The graphic card is a NVIDIA GeForce 7900GTX.

As the camera pans down the image appears to pixelate. Still looking for a solution. Maybe the pan was too fast.

Also, this may not be related to your problem, but make sure you are choosing 23.98 in your output settings and not 24. It makes a difference as well.
