how to make h.264 not auto play?

id like the option for my quicktime files not to automatically play when they appear on a page. Mainly so I can put multiples on a page and they wont all start at the same time.

Anyone know the trick?

Not too sure that you can set each clip to be auto play or not, but i do know that in your quicktime prefs, there are settings to disable that exact thing. But of course that is a pref on the individual user's computer and nothing you can control.

The only workaround i can suggest is not having them load right away until you click on a link. Perfect example is the quicktime trailers. (non HD ones). some of them have a "click to load" button or link or whatever it is that activates the downloading/playing.

Not sure how its done, but you could always use screenshots as those "buttons" so you can figure out which one you want to watch first .

Hopefully someone else may be able to chime in and expalin how its done? I never got into web page building.....

You gotta break open your HTML (or java script if you're using a java script based applet to control things, which I think iWeb does from what I gathered reading someone else's post on this same issue, but using iWeb). Look for the 'autoplay' or 'autostart' (I forget what its specifically called) option for the <embed> tag. Once you've found that set it to "false" and you should be doing just fine. Then if you want one of the multiple videos to be the first to start playing you could set that one to "true" with all the others set to false. Good luck.

cheers.

Most web page design programs let you set all the option on if you want autoplay, show the controller, loop etc.
You simply select the asset then check what you want and upload.
