The Sony Bravia ad - exploding paint and how they did it

that's the thing. it's NOT CG. it's actual paint. watch the behind the scenes and you'll see for yourself. (that's why I posted it)

morten (aka NOOB) - Search first. That way you don't create a new topic that pushes another persons topic onto the 2nd page (where they die a slow painful death).

The first ad was better.

I applologize for not searching - it is something I normally do. I would prefer it if you didn't throw out insults for no reason tho, it's very rude:

by starting your post with "morten (aka NOOB)" you are implying both that I am known as "NOOB" - not correct - and that I am a NOOB, also not correct. According to Wikipedia:

"The term newb itself is usually used to refer to a person who is new to the field in question, whereas noob is used as an insult."

So, why choose to use an insult rather than just simply point out that a thread has already been posted. Doesn't really fit with the philosophy of forgiveness and contemplation that the buddhist on your avatar implies.

The Cafe is full of posts making NOOB comments to LONG-TIME members. I too have been called NOOB for posting something that was a repeat. Actually I changed my middle name to "Noob" so that way, when people call me NOOB, it doesn't hurt as much. lol

Here's just one recent example of NOOBness:

But you can't argue with Wikipedia. Although, they should ammend the article to include "an endearing comment between respected members of a community". lol

Also, my Buddhist philosophies are not relevant since, by many, I'm not considered a good monk. :)

Some of the paint was digital, there is an article on it somewhere.

As much as I like Glazer, "Balls" was better, but this is still good.

NOOB over and out... <---sarcasm

when I watched it the first time I kept thinking "why didn't they paint over all the grafitti in the hallways? it looks so trashy and so obviously abandoned". Then I realized it was real and that no sane person would ever let that much paint - biodegradeable or otherwise - be sprayed all over their property. Wonder if they tore the whole thing down afterwards....

Yeah -- I was wondering if maybe these buildings were already targeted for demolition or something... but from what they say in the bts it sounds like they cleaned it all up!

The Cafe has seen many a NOOB accusation. I can't take credit for this, but I wish I could...

Why is it a German ID card? That doesn't do us American NOOB's much good! :)

They did CG a lot of stuff in the commercial. They had to in order to remove all the canisters, cranes, wires, people, etc. That's why I like the first commercial better. It felt more real. Like they let a million balls go and recorded it. This one felt too staged. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :) I just think the first one is more beautiful. A perfect combination of music and visuals.

As if they said "How do we top that last commercial??!" "AHA! We'll blow something up!" "Indeed!"*

*It is quite possible that no one said "Indeed!"

MY wife used to work for the agency (Fallon) that did the spot. Real paint I can confirm. They are the same folks who did all the BMW films a few years back. They do alot of really nice and inovative stuff.

Yeah, Fallon has a nice portfolio, they were behind the original "Balls" commercial as well, along with some nifty Starbucks ones.

Coincidentally enough, I share namesake with the company, wonder if that qualifies me for employment?
