Hi, sorry to throw out such an amateur question, but can someone please tell me how to convert my clients wmv file into qt file so that I may import it into his Final Cut project! HELP!!

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks! I have downloaded it, but how I can't even get the wmv files to open it says "Error opening Movie" The movie could not be opened. Did I install it wrong?

That's what it does when I tried with flip4mac, also. I think you have to have the "pro" version in order to re-encode to a different format.

I did a simple google search, and here's the results.

You guys aren't trying to convert DRM'd WMV, are you? ;-)

What version of F4M, QTpro, FCP and WMP do you have?
Does the file(s) play back in WMP OK?

Convert it to a .mov file using QTPro.

You need something like F4M for that to work. Sadly QTp doesn't allow conversion w/o a little help AFAIK.

Axel.

Yes, you do. I just tried it using QTPro, thinking all was going well. When it was done, I had a watermark across the file telling me that I had converted it using a trial version of Flip4Mac.

Yes, what you download for free is the free PLAYER and demo of the Import/Export engine. I use the Pro version a lot and love it.

Get MPEG STREAMCLIP. Go here http://www.squared5.com/ to download it. Once you have downloaded it, open your WMV file in it, then export it to DV or whatever format you'd like.

MPEG Streamclip also rips DVD's and you can set in and out points if you only want to rip certain parts.

Hope this helps.
