1,550 Miles of Love (and DANGER)

Can you strap an extra cushion onto the seat?

A big woopie cushion would give the periodic illusion that you were on some sort of bastardized harley. :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

Wow, PK, sounds excellent. I sent you some cash to support you on this trip.

And I understand more than ever now. In India there are motorcycles everywhere, and having just one person aboard seems to be the exception. I've seen families of five on a single motorcycle; a little five-year-old balanced on the gas tank, the dad driving, the 3-year-old squished

PK,
One other thing. If you wait until your numb or tingling to take a break, most of teh damage is already done. Plan to take lots of rest stops until you build up to the longer stretches. Learn to keep your arms, shoulders and forearms relaxed and you should be fine.

Glad to be of help PK. I like the idea of my name being on some random town in Thailand. Isaac Brody? Who the hell is Isaac Brody. :)

Ok, so we've got good advice rom Future User and some unusual advice (whoopie cushion?) from thartley. LOL :)

Thanks, Bluespider! Where have you been?

Barry - You're in India now? Be careful and have a great time. Not sure if it's possible to do both at the same time, but try. And thanks for all of your support.

Isaac - I'll write "Isaac Brody - DVXuser Super Mod" on your ribbon so people will know who you are.

Here's some photos taken over the past few years. Some of you have already seen them, but just in case.

And here's some of the helmet stuff we've done.

OMG!

LOOK AT THE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT! i wish it was socially acceptable to ride one over here cuz those things have great gas mileage.

lol, what do you mean not socially acceptable here ... last time I checked Vespas were kind of a fad? even Vespas nock offs like mine get thumbs up from the hipster set. Even if scooters are not your thing a small motorcycle still gets great gas milage, you don't have to have a scooter per se. I get 90 miles per gallon on my Venice.

(but mine has a custom black leather seat upholstery)

When we were in New Orleans I drove it every day at least to and from work and then to the grocery store regularly and what not and gas cost me about $4 a month

$1600 NEW with 90 days parts and labor and 1 year labor ( the parts cost nothing)
$200 A YEAR to insure
$4 a month in gas.
And fun fun fun.

No Ca$h - They're becoming more acceptable since gas prices are no lonbger acceptable.

Jack - They're starting to sell those things here. They're very popular.

Cryogenic - Thanks! I appreciate it.

Slimothy - The post was so nice you had to post it twice! lol :)

You would either have to hate your life or just be plain crazy to ride one of those around Boca Raton, Florida. Theres a million old people out on the road. They are fun to ride if you live in a smaller town. I've rode a Honda Metropoliton before

Boca Raton 74K in city + another 120 K surrounding

New Orleans 485K in city + 1 another million in metro area (before hurricane) and we had drunks and street cars in lieu of old people, plus no one can drive there anyway and you can almost NEVER turn left (grrrrr)

Brooklyn Flatbush Area where we are now = 2.5 million

to me they are fine for anything but the highway

To be fair, New Orleans, despite being the size of Austin and only slightly smaller than Seattle Proper (560K) does have a small French town feel to it and is set up that way. That's where we relied on it as our only vehicle.

Now that we are in Brooklyn, it's pretty much only to go to the other side of the park where the good restaurants and bars are.

But in my other post was mostly responding to your post wishing they were "socially acceptable" which I didn't get as most people think they are hip, rather than responding to an issue of feasibility. They are mostly for your neighborhood or a reasonable commute to work and are more fun than a car.
