1,550 Miles of Love (and DANGER)

Kirk Gillock

Rebel with a cause
On November 6th I will begin a 2,500 km (1,550 mile) motorcycle journey around Thailand, promoting helmet safety to schools and provinces along the way.

Even though 80% of the Thai population is on two wheels and fatalities are some of the highest in the world, there has never been a safety campaign like this before. The goal (here in Thailand) is to raise awareness about a HUGE problem, but the goal (where you are) is to raise some money for future Isara projects. Here's how you can help, right now:

FREE - Just make Isara your homepage or use Isara for all your Google searches and Amazon shopping.

NOT FREE - Sponsorships for this event start at $25 (.01 cent/km). Each sponsor will have their name (or group name) written on a ribbon that will be tied to a village sign, along the 2,500 km heart-shaped path.

TELL OTHERS - We all know how powerful word-of-mouth can be. Simply by contacting your friends, co-workers, boss, and family, it can start an amazing chain-reaction of goodness. Kind of like spreading the flu, but this will make you feel good, not bad.

For more information please visit:

See how DVXuser helped donate 500+ helmets in 2005:

Thank you to all the DVXuser members who have visited Isara and helped make a difference. I really do appreciate all your support.

Thanks, everyone. But I forgot to mention, I'll be doing a wheelie the whole 2,500 km.

lol :)

LOL :) Jack, you've riden motorcycles before. What's the longest you've driven and was it the bum that hurt the most or the back? And do your arms vibrate until they're numb? I did a practice drive the other day, of only 60 miles, and my arms felt like they were going to fall off.

well you've seen this before

but again, was our only vehicle in New Orleans ... I think I drove it about 45 minutes each way a couple of times for an audition or something way out that I wouldn't normally have to go to ... work was about 5 min away.

But scooters aren't really for long distance stuff, so you will be feeling it even though yours is more shock absorbery.

Dennis Hopper talks about having the back shocks taken of his bike and lowering the rear down right over the back wheel so it would look cool for Easy Rider, but then his back was killing him the whole time as they actually drove across country making that.

Cool dog carrier. But real dogs ride like this

Jack - Do you still have your motorcycle or did it not fit in the moving truck?

Wow PK that sounds like a lot of fun. You're really gunna help that country out alot. You should watch the Motorcycle diaries before you go, to get you pumped! Who knows maybe youll start a revolution. I'd really like to donate but it looks like you dont accept american express. im so sick of this credit card.

Thanks to Brandon and NO CA$H for their donations.

100% of all donations goes to the projects so you all can rest assured I'm not using the money to buy an HVX. Unless an HVX is required for a project. hehehehehe lol There's always a loop-hole.

PK,
I ride all the time. See if you can get heavier bar ends for your ride. The additional weight changes the vibration fequency of the bar and reduces fatigue. Don't wear gloves too tight either. Cuts of circulation. Just a couple of thoughts.
