No Commercial Sig, But Can I Still Make an Announcement?

[Texture]

I read a bit about the commercial sigs restrictions in the stickies above.

Well, I'm never selling anything really in my signature, so I'm all square there...

Are we allowed to make a general announcement regarding a release as a single post? Can we include a poster gif or jpg in that post? Like "Hey everybody I just finished this short work and I'm hoping you'll all come out and support yada yada at my website and link on such and such."

Thanks,

Erik

Seems like it should be okay, but you might want to square it with Jarred.

If you are a member you can promo the hell out of whatever you are doing ... no different than Blaine's Hollywood Gothic banner.

You are not supposed to put a banner in your sig for McDonalds or Wendy's or B&H photo because that would not be fair to the other paid advertisers.

But you can pimp your own project in your own sig like Smuggler's Ransom or Hollywood Gothic or the French Quarter Features website.

Selling something and making money off it? Gray area. Ask Norm (envision) he sells his sparrow DVD's on here (or ask Jarred). Having a Thread in the Member Film subforum is free until you are distributing and selling and then it costs $20 a month.

... The only [other] compay links you can have in your sig is your personal production website, or personal website ...

sounds like if its your company website where you are selling your project it doesn't matter

Thanks JDS and once again, congrats!!!

If it's something for which you intend to make a sale, then the advertising policy kicks in.
