What's up with the editing style on Law & Order Criminal Intent?

I noticed that this season Law and Order CI employed a lot of quick cuts, slow-mo and fancy camera moves, especially in their teaser. This is in stark contrast to earlier seasons when they relied more on suspense to carry the story. In my opition this attempt to "spice up" the show is unnecessarily distracting. Anyone else think this?
 
I havn't seen any episodes yet this year but that would be disappointing. I've always liked that law & order didnt do the whole flashy cut, quick zoom in and out for no reason stuff. Most TV directing and editing is such bullshit...
