Yes, SurJones has been a great supporter of this project and the starter of the group buy. He has stepped up to moderating this thread of his own free will and answering a lot of questions that have been already answered previously, thus saving me a lot of time repeating myself. I really appreciate your help, SurJones! Thanks a lot and keep up the good work.

David

It has always been and always will be connected through the P2 slots of the camera -- that's the only way the Cinneporter can fully emulate solid-state P2 cards.

I am just going to repost my own comment, from the previous page. While I am waiting for the CinePorter, I went ahead and bought a set of Santoku Knives to chop food, since I love culenary. Time passes when you are dicing and sautéing while watching the food channel.:)

I am sure SpecComm is just as anxious to give a date, as we are to hear one. It is one of those things where asking, only creates less time to focus on the project, becasue they are answering the same question over and over again.

Until the P2 cards hold a hell of a lot more space, the Cineporter will be the best thing out there.

I'll probably buy an HVX once the Cineporter is available. Until then, nothing else really works for me.

Abaddon: Ya I know what you are saying in regards to the P2 cards. Even if the predictions are correct come Dec 06or Q1/Q2 07 till we see a 16gig and 32gig.
Imagine how long till we will see a 100gig. That being said. I think the CinePorter will still be the best option. Because at 360 gigs for the price of 3 8gig P2 cards....You can't go wrong. Even if I will NEVER record 800mins. still worth the money to say I can to a client :)

If the P2 cards went up to 32GB and were sold at a fair price, two of those would work great. The weight of the unit would be a lot lighter and easier to manage. But of course, that probably won't happen for a few years, unless storage devices like the cineporter provide enough competition to force the price down and the gigs up.

So until the P2's become practical, the Cineporter will be great. It's fairly small and holds a hell of a lot of footage.

I hope it'll be released in the near future.

Just saw the renders. Without a doubt, an excelent design. Its good to see the project evolving slowly but steadily. I don't mind the wait, since it will benefit us all in the end.

One question (I don't know if it was answered already)

How heavy is the new design? In Kg, please :)

We'll publish the exact figures when we change the web site, but it looks like it will be less than 1.2 Kg. including the interface card and cable.

Excelent! Thanks David.

Come on David, we are in america,(some of us) How many .lbs and ounces? Are you really going to make me hit F13 to use my wigets. :) 2.6lbs aint bad :) But then again 1.2kg's def sound lighter, so I like it.

Anyone know any updates on when the Cineporter is coming to market?

Q4 is almost over and I'm wondering is this product will make it out this year?

Thanks
Rory

Thanks for inquiring again RORY: They are still working hard to get this out as soon as they can.

Wow have you seen how many hits this thread has had?
Close to 50k

You would think a product that has soom much intrest in could attact investers to invest the capital needed to get it to market.

Come on, get this thing out there!
