High Quality Wide-Angle Adapter

Hi guys. I am starting a music-video project where I wll need a wide-angle converter for my HVX200 to give me a coverage of around between 24mm and 20mm (equivalent to 35mm photography). After a search, I have found several products from multiple brands but knowing the typical low quality of these converters and how much they can degradate the image quality, I would like some advice on my choics for the better ones out there

Also, If there is an adapter that is known to be good enough to allow full zoom-thru the camera's native zoom range, that would be awesome... maybe I am asking too much...

Thnak you very much for your advice and comments on what's out there that is best.

how much are you willing to spend?>
Price does not matter to me. I have an OK budget for this project. I just want the best wide angle converter I can get my hands on that can give me corner-to-corner sharpness (and, if zoom-thru capabilities, the better).

Thanks again in advance for the advice!

16x9 Inc. has recently introduced the first of a premiere collection of lens accessories which will work on your HVX-200.

The link is: http://www.16x9inc.com/ex75wide . They have a list price of $995 and a promo price of $895.

B&H has it listed for $849.95. B&H Link: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=460591&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

This a good looking lens! Has anyone reviewed them yet? Everything I have read so far on 16x9 wide angle adapters has been not very good as far as the image quality they provide... curious if there are any screen grabs of them in action...

I guess this is a very new product so I haven't found any reviews, but because it has the ability to do 72mm threads as well (I can use it on my XL-2 as well as the HVX-200), I may go ahead and order this from B&H next week and test it myself... if someone doesn't beat me to the punch... hint... hint...

I have been looking and asking for a while and the Century Optics .75 zoom through seems to get the best results. The comments are positive and consistent. You will notice more weight in the front and will need to be careful for keeping the lens from being scratched as it will not fit a regular filter

Yes. From the information I gathered, the 16x9 .75X wide converter is a relatively new product. According to B&H, they should have it in-stock very soon.

I use this one:

which is non zoom-thru but very high quality and allows you to use the stock lens shade. It's also small enough to keep in your pocket or on your belt.
Do you set the camera's native lens to the macro position with this adapter? As a rule of thumb, compact adapters that require a fixed macro back focus tend to be very sharp (but never zoom thru of course)

I hit the autofocus on the lens for a couple of seconds, check it with the focus check and I'm good to go.

I'm shooting a feature (horror) film right now and I'm shooting with the attached lens and I have a varizoom to pull focus. Most of my shots have movement in them. I use a steadicam, fig rig, dolly and shoulder-mount handheld to keep the film moving.

Obiously I have to do a lot of focus pulling. I love to do Peter Jackson style push-in/CU type shots especially at the end of a 30 second steadicam shot.

Question: Would having a wide angle adapter make it easier for me to stay in focus? I'm shooting 1080/24p.

since its for music videos and not run and gun stuff have you considered getting a 35mm adapter and just getting a good wide angle lens for that?
