cheap on-cam shock mount? azden smh-1?

I am getting an oktava in a few days and am lookinginto mounting it on camera (i know i konw) .. at least for now. I'd like a shockmount that's decent and not DIY (clients have to see it). I noticed the azden smh-1 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&Q=&is=REG&O=productlist&sku=225809)
I think this is the cheapest one i could find and in theory should work like the others that have the elastic band setup going.
is there that much of a difference in the elastic band shock mounts and what kind of results can i expect from the azden?

and for that matter - is the cheapy sorta-shock mount that comes w/ the camera effective at all?

I just bought an Azden SGM 1000, and it came with that shockmount. I never used one before, so I decided to give it a go. A band I'm working with was playing Saturday, so I grabbed the cam tripod and new mic, and off I went to play. No real setup, used a preset white balance, and slapped the SGM on top of the cam. I didn't even have a short XLR cable, so I took a 15' cable, rolled it up, and wire tied it to the handle.

I have nothing negative to say about it, so I suppose it worked. Between the shotgun and the stock HD100 mic, it sounded really good. Not great, but I wasn't going for perfect, just playing :)

P.S. Aside from the hot shoe mount, all it has are two screw holes for mic stands. For just sitting on top, it's ok. For a boom pole, definately look at the K Tek.

so what about the stock one - is it even worth screwing it to the camera? seems like it should offer some shock protection - would it be enough for the oktava?

piggy backing with a similar question, FiddlerMD. hope you don't mind.

i want to mount a Sanken CS-1 on an HVX with a fuzzy windscreen -- what shock mount/windscreen combos would work?

what about this shoe mount:

with this windscreen:

I have the same shock mount. I bought the SGM-1000 and it came with it....no its not production super expensive stuff, but it works well. A friend of mine uses his on his boom pole and it worked great for the movie we shot....no slippage or anything.

i recieved the azden today - i played around a little bit with it - seems to work OK. I noticed that the rubber bands seem a bit stiff so it seems as though they may transfer more vibration to the mic than necessary - i could however replace them with some sort of DIY solution - i have tons of various belts from old VCR's and similar types of rubber bands. As far as mounting to a boom pole, this thing does have a screw hole for a tripod mount so i guess it's mountable to a pole too if necessary. For me, i wont be needing a pole-mounted mic any time soon so not an issue. Matt - I appreciate all your advice and consider you a good source for info, but for me, price was more important (at least at this point in my career). Any suggestions on replacement bands? or how about - how soft should it be (keeping in mind that the mic is an Oktava so it's fairly small/light. I'm guessing the azden's rubber bands work better for heavier mics

Try looking in your local hardware store for small rubber o rings.

UHRGL... get the K-Tek K-SSM mount instead (and for the cs1 especially... specify SOFT bands):

And then add the shoe-adapter. This way you can use the mount on your cam or on a boom pole... and more importantly you can vary the angle.
The windscreen you linked to is a full blimp system and will not work well for an on-cam mic.

Thanks for the link and the advice, Matt. What would you recommend as a fuzzy windscreen for the CS-1?
