Say a piece of equipment is damaged on a set. One person is clearly responsible. There is insurance. Who pays the deductable, production or the person responsible?

On are last shoot we brought in a second dp and the di who was friends with the dp got upset with the second dp and broke a remote cable for the crane. I guess the crane guy fixed it because he never sent me a bill.

But if he did I would have sent the bill to the di. The production would end up paying for it but still would be nice to let the guy know what an idiot he was. Plus we'll never work with him or the dp again.

And now the director is trying to line up a three picture deal. So we'll use the second dp and the first dp will lose out on those pictures.

The funny thing the dp was the executive producers choice. So I think he thought he was top dog. That is until the executive producerpulled him aside and told him not to be late any more. The guy was late 5 times out of the first 8 days of shooting.
