I have just obtained an External HD that I hope will be the solution and offer flexiblity to many things in shooting ,editing and file transfer to Post house and other editors NLEs

Icecube | Pleiades Enclosure with a 250gb Western Digital 7200rpm drive

The tough aluminium cool looking enclosure has connections for:
F/W800 up to 800Mbps
F/W400 up to 400 Mbps
USB 2.0 up to 480 Mbps
Serial ATA (SATA) up to 1.5Gbs per sec - wow !!!

the drive is shock mounted and the power supply is of convenient size and weight.

An external SATA connector is supplied for fitting to my desktop machine.

I was just looking at this enclosure a few days ago. It also does USB2/FW400/FW800 and the eSATA speed goes up to 3Gbps.

I am considering Formating the drive as FAT32 instead of NTFS because part of its role will be "playing" with MACS

Anyone know of a reason I should not do this (or any limitations it will impose on me and my PCs ?

If you are going to put P2 MXF files on it, it's not a bad idea, those files are already sized to fit FAT32.

Otherwise, I would go with HFS or HFS+ and use MacDrive on the PC to give you read/write access to the volume.
