don't talk about stuff unless you really know what you're talking about.
come on now, its the american way :)

I would agree that they are getting better after they were caught not paying overtime and telling employees to go to free clinics instead of Dr's offices, and if you are happy working there then not all employees hate it like I thought.

Re: the living wage and insurance, I was just going off of what WM CEO Lee Scott said in an interview for CBS... when asked about it he avoided the question by responding "well...whats a living wage?" Ummm, a paycheck that covers standard of living costs in the employees community maybe?

As far as big boxes go, WM is one of the toughest jobs (speaking with rank and file employees that worked there) and all I am saying is that when you look at how much WM makes every quarter, they can afford to treat their employees better than they do.

But I do apologize, I didnt mean to turn a thread on good movie prices into my soapbox. Everyone has the right to shop or work wherever they want.

Hey guys, let's please stay on topic here. The Wal-Mart topic is a valid and interesting topic, but we're a filmmaking site and these political debates never end well. Thanks.

Just thought I would resurrect this thread as I have acquired several in the last few weeks...

$5.00 Once Upon A Time In The West (2-disk special edition)
$5.00 Kiss Of The Dragon (Hey it's martial arts starring Jet Li)

Today...
$5.00 Behind Enemy Lines (Hackman. Gotta have it)
(they have a Paramount display setup, everything in it for $3.98 of which I got)
$3.98 M:i-2
$3.98 M:i:III
$3.98 TimeLine (Have not seen yet, but I like time travel and medievil)
$3.98 Paycheck (Not an affleck fan but I remember this as a decent movie)

All were widescreen (I do NOT buy fullframe unless it just does not exist or will not exist on widescreen, which is why I passed on a few including Nemisis).

There were a bunch more there I had no interest in but others might see different.

I was always under the impression that Walmart requires that movies and music remove any obscene or 'inappropriate' parts. It may be in incorrect assumption but that is one of the reason I never purchased any music or movies from Walmart.

Am I wrong on this?

Yea I got Beer Leage also. I found it funny but a bit vulgar for some folks.

And I would like to confirm that nothing smutty was deleted from the original movie. (In fact they may have added some stuff in!)

I never heard about Walmart censoring their DVDs.

5 dollar DVDs....I can't see how Blockbuster could be around much longer. Especially when Walmart is about 1,000 feet closer to my house.

They seem to have a problem with movies and music when their store or "American" god or collective moral values are shown in a bad light. But they are perfectly fine with violence and mild sex. SO --- Yay!!! :2vrolijk_08:
