The Scent of Green Papaya

Anyone have a copy of this DVD that they're willing to let go of? It's out of print and I need a copy for a project I'm developing. I'm willing to pay more for it than you bought it for new, but the going rates on ebay and amazon are more than I'm willing to spend.

Thanks!

Nobody? I didn't realize how obscure a film this is until I mentioned it while we were wrapping up after a long day of shooting and the conversation went something like this.

me: Hey, you guys know where I can get a copy of Scent of Green Papaya?

DP: What's that?

editor: Never heard of it.

lead actress: Sounds like porn!

Kids these days ....

Well, I've never heard of it either, but I thought a thread called Scent of Green Papaya started by someone called Hairy Lime was worth checking out. :)

I've studied film history for years, and this is the first I've heard of it. Doubtful many here have an extra copy lying around, but good luck!

Age doesn't have anything to do with it; this film is just plain unknown

Well, I knew that. I just thought filmmakers would have at least heard of it. I know it's not an age thing since my DP is my age, my editor is 5 years younger, and my actress is 10 years younger. A nice cross section of Gen X, Y, and whatever comes after.

I have a copy. The film is not all that great! I'll sell it to you pm me. Oh and btw, what's up John!!!

You can rent it at any Blockbuster or Hollywood Video, in the foreign section obviously.
I think the movie is so beautiful. Tran hasn't made anything since Vertical Ray of the Sun in 2000, which is also incredible.
I am going to Vietnam with my wife this fall, and I would be lying if I said that these films didn't have a small impact on that decision. His films romanticize Vietnam for me. These are masterpieces.

Might want to check that. It's no longer available on netflix or thorugh the NY Public Library and I suspect it's begun disappearing from video store shelves as well. And I needed a copy to own, not rent.

It worked out thanks to DVXuser!
