Google buys YouTube for $1.65 billion

YouTube is amazingly great. It's got terabytes of video that we all wanna watch, and terabytes of video that we really don't wanna watch. There are so many great things to YouTube that Google can improve.

Eveything's on YouTube. The video of you at your 6th grade graduation singing Time After Time is on YouTube. Go home, go to YouTube, go up to the search bar, and punch your keyboard. Just punch it, twice, and hit enter. There's a video for that.

Then again, YouTube is free. Around nine months ago, someone coined the phrase "YouTube ain't gonna last long." Google might make YouTube cost money, or do something to create a way to squeeze money out of the site. Is 1.65 billion dollars what YouTube costs? Maybe it's because it's like exactly 1 billion Euros. I dunno, my math may be wrong... But I don't see the Google owned YouTube ending up on my favorites list.

Hopefully they'll let YouTube remain the simple pleasure that it is and only make minor refinements. *fingers crossed*

The co-founders of Youtube posted this video to the fans of the site:

Note the crystal clear audio quality (voice dripping with sarcasm). It's interesting how two guys who just sold their company for $1.6 billion dollar couldn't afford a decent microphone or windshield protection.

Perhaps the most notable goof in the video was when one of them referred to the site as "ours" still. It isnt theirs...its Google's now.

At what point will Google reach the point of spontaneous combustion? I'm not a Google hater, but they are kinda taking over the playground that we all gave them space to hang out in.

i'm sure google will keep it free. They make their money on advertising, not a membership-based model. I'm sure the ads will increase though.

As the moguls go down the list buying up every site that gets significant eyeballs, how long will it take for dvxuser to stay under the radar?
