What's the advantage of the Zacuto baseplate?

I'm in the formative stages of piecing together a HVX-200 package and was wondering if there are any compelling reasons to go with the Zacuto baseplate over the Petroff rod system. There seems to be additional adjustability with the Zacuto ie: over the tripod fore/aft adjustment, but is there any other advantage ?

The package is a ENG/Doc set-up with matte box and follow focus, not a cine style package with all the bells and whistles- although it may see that kind of use down the road. I don't need the myriad of attachment points that the Zacuto permits. Lightweight is always a concern as well. THe Zacuto is 1.75 lbs according to their specs.

Anyone have input ?

Thanks

the zacuto base is SEXY! It's heavy, but very well made and adjustable to any camera. Future proof for me (at least I hope so). It covers the entire bottom of the HVX. I hate my camera to get scratched up on the bottom plate from setting it on the ground ect... I have the petroff box/zacuto setup and it is sweet!

The Zacuto baseplate is sturdy, well constructed and everything fits precisely. It is adjustable along both horizontal and vertical axes to ensure proper fit of mattebox. I strongly recommend it.

I second every opinion given before. But, like you I do a lot of handheld work.
As you probably already know the HVX is a substantial camera and the Zacuto plate makes it heavier.
I've talked to Steve at Zacuto a few times and he's very clear about the weight of his plate for handheld work.

I actually prefer more weight for handheld stuff. Make it sturdier. Given you don't do too much at a straight shot. A couple minutes handheld at a time is fine. I have grips and a shouldermount that I throw on there too.
