8 Films To Die For

not saying they won't be good. just don't put your faith in someone's marketing strategy.

Sounds like a nice promotion gimmick to get people to watch... not saying its bad or good... but sounds like I said good marketing...

Do you know if they have an official site? Who are the directors and films? Saw a myspace account for them but didnt know if it was official or fan based. Some where on this forum I saw a post for the gorest film of all time just cant think of the name.

it could be marketing strategy or what not but some of the images look really disturbing. ill see it just for that.

Marketing strategies flop hard, now-a-days, anyway.

SO if it's bad, just keep your eye on Aintitcoolnews.com to find out. It's harder to get away with a Marketing Scheme now, compared to then.

I want to see this, but I'm with Cygnet.

i'm with "8 films to die for"

hi guys,
i'm tony from "8 films to die for". thanks for talking about us. this is a major movie event weekend with the participation of lionsgate and it's the first of a yearly event.
to cygnet and kholi: i hear ya about marketing. i think there's good marketing and dishonest marketing. good marketing is "snakes on a plane" where people got to contribute. ok, so the ideas didn't do much for the flick but it was an honest attempt.
what after dark is doing with "8 films to die for" is to start this movement of independent horror to feature the films by good directors dealing with subjects that studios don't get because of "how do i market this to the tweens?"
sorry if i'm breaking forum rules, but no horror movie should be a f**ckin' pg-13!
if i see another flick with that "ring" or "grudge" long-hair chick i'm gonna flip!
what "8 films to die for" is about is bringing horror back to the fans - discriminating fans, not the mall crowd dropped off by their soccer moms on their way to a botox session. we've chosen the films that we think brings a good range of deep fear and forbidden subjects to fans.
this is not a one-time thing. www.horrorfestonline.com will have a forum up and running all year long in anticipation of comments from you guys. tell us what was good, what you want see, a director you like, an overlooked film, etc...let us know.
anyway, i can't type and this is killing my metacarpals. i'll definitely check back to answer anything you guys want to know.
great forum, and thanks again guys.

hey movie stunts,
my role is, like cygnet74 and kholi are wary of(and rightly so), is marketing the weekend.
i can't and will not guarantee that you guys will like all the movies, but i will say that after dark's intent is to bring a scary and rockin' weekend to fans. it's not just going to see movies. weekend passes will get you to all the films and access to parties and events in select cities.
movies-wise, "the hamiltons" have been getting good buzz for lionsgate, and i heard "penny dreadful" has gotten a great review by spooky dan of bloody-disgusting and won best cinematography at shriekfest(have to check that out myself)
this is one weekend only. get everybody and go.! then tell us what you like and didn't like. i guarantee you'll like some of the films, and your input and ideas will make "8 films to die for" a continued success for years to come.
sorry to sound like a marketing dud(e). i'm just sick of what's passing for horror these days. thanks for reading.

Website is kinda vague at this point, as to which 36 states these will be released in. My question is, will Utah be one of those states, and if not... Will these titles make it to video?

hey movie stunts,
on our website, under theaters, i do see a listing for utah theaters. as far as video i can't confirm at this point.
states-wise, if you guys want a quick list google "television markets" for the top 35-36(i don't want to take up real estate here for that), then check the theater listing on http://horrorfestonline.com.
hope this helps

Sweet the Century 16 is just down the street from my house. Have you seen any of them personally? If so which would you recommend?

My wife wanted to enter to be "Miss Horrorfest 2006".

She saw a commercial for it the Saturday night before the Sunday deadline for entries! So lucky me I got to stay up for 24 hours to help her shoot and edit her entry! It WAS a blast and yes I got a little something for my effort. :)

Here's her video. It was cute:
