Hi guys,

I just became a new member of the the DVX community.
Own a 4 month old DVX100b that works so nice, that I bought a second one today. (Wife not very happy)

Reading the entire 16 page thread regarding the cleaning of the unit, I found a lot of informative information.

I found that everyone has either had "dust residue"(Panasonic) or 'gooee gunt"(Sony)

Before I run a single second on my new camera can you say which is better Wet or Dry tapes

I have been using Panny tapes for the first camera and I have not had any problems.

But then again I only found out about this forum recently.

thanx

I use Panasonic PQ's. And occassionally when I get my hands on them, MQ's. But once you pick a tape, STAY WITH IT!

I was on a shoot a little while back where they handed out TDK tapes that they obviously bought a Wal-Mart. I told them that they had to buy tape stock from me or I wouldn't shoot 1 frame! That's like putting a paper plate in a china cabinet!

I think you can probably use any tape as long as you stick with only one brand. although before I knew this I used just about any kind of mini I had - Fuji, Panasonic, TDK, Sony, Maxell etc...

I bought my DVX100 used a few years back and the owner used a variety of tapes - I sent it out to have the heads cleaned and I've stuck with the Sony brand only because all my other gear was using Sony tapes. I've had no problems at all with the Sony tapes.

Wives never are. They are always ruining our fun:(

I have a question to ask, i got my dvx and ordered 20 tapes which i thought weere going to be the normal panasonic "me" tapes but they sent the pq one, i didnt even realise until now and just ordered another 40 of those same tapes i got last time.. but this time i got the "me" tapes, will it effect my heads much?

cheers

wow, you guys spend way too much time analyzing which tapes to get. Get one, stick with what works and clean your heads when its required. This topic is getting some people over parranoid for the overall impact it has on the recording heads and the camera itself.
