Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip

this show is terrible. it would like to think, after it's cancelled, that it was "over people's heads". Truth is, it's just not a very good show. It's soooo dour. Everything is soooooooo serious. It doesn't know what it wants to be...

I give this show 6-8 more episodes and predict a huge ratings drop from last week.

huh, didn't get that vibe at all. In fact, after watching the second episode, this is officially the only TV show I will tune into every week (tv from netflix is how I roll). Perhaps what you see as an identity crises, I perceive as a unique take on a network series.

anyway, yes, I really enjoyed tonight's episode. much more than the pilot (which I also enjoyed but was to encumbered by being "the first episode") Go Sorkin :)

Dang! Missed the pilot! Missed episode two! Big fan of Aaron Sorkin. Was on the Studio 60 set at Warner Bros. last week for BTS stuff. Funny grips on set. I pushed a bunch of buttons on the set switcher, but nothing happened. Just came back from shooting arrivals at a Studio 60 panel discussion at the TV Academy. Amanda Peet is HOT!

since you were on the Studio 60 set could you answer a question for me if you happen to know? is Studio 60 shot on the same studio that West Wing was shot on?

West Wing was shot on the stages all the way "on the left" if you enter Gate 7 (southwest corner of the lot). I think Studio 60 is like one stage "across" from the old West Wing stages. So, no, it's a different stage I believe. But it's real close to the old West Wing stages, so I could be wrong. I can check the next time I'm there. By the way, all the Warner stages look the same size to me.

I'm digging up an old thread here, but, now that we don't know if it'll be back or not for those last 6 episodes, in hindsight, what did y'all think?

I personally loved it. c.g. eads did predict that it would be cancelled, but I disagree with him on several points because I understood everything that was going on. "Stuff we don't know or care about" was not what the show was about. I actually did know and care about what was going on...

Not to mention the technical aspect of the show, and the fact that it's shot on real film, give it that great quality.

I've got all the episodes on my iTunes, can't wait for the DVD (if there is one).

I really hope there's some... magical YouTube video or something that inspires 20 million people to watch the last 6 episodes and bring it back.

I really, really liked that show.

it was a'ight

I could take it or leave it.

Seems like a lot of people like it though, so I guess I hope it doesn't get axed.

i hope it doesnt get cancelled. i really love the show. it was one of my favorites on tv... damn nbc....

on a side note the show they replaced Studio 60 with, The Black Donnelly's, is an awesome show too.

NBC (hell, Television in general) is notorious for killing series with potential. I can't count even on fingers and toes how many shows I like that went south prematurely.

It actually got to a point that I don't even bother to watch first run series anymore, due to the fact that I'll likely end up getting hooked and it'll get cancelled a few months (or even weeks) later.

I think this clip sums it up best: http://youtube.com/watch?v=1gvTPk-yKus

Thank god for DVD's. This is the only way I watch TV.

What am I watching now?

TWNI PEAKS: Season 1 (Season 2 comes out in two weeks)

It's like crack, but... ya know...not...whack.

Manimal?

What does anyone think about their product placement strategy? I thought it was an interesting self-referential episode when they were tormented by how to add revenue without compromising the show, and then struck on the billboards as the solution - all while the characters were drinking Heineken's...

Yeah,

I thought that was a really great scene.

He's been more self referential in the last few episodes, and he's turned it more into a drama love story... I guess for appeal?

I know this is digging up a dead body but,

Studio 60's latest episode is in the top ten downloads on iTunes TV store. This means it has been downloaded millions of times! Maybe even tens of millions!

Which means, my favorite show could be coming back. That is, after all, what saved The Office. They released the Christmas Episode of the second season of The Office on iTunes for free around Christmastime of '06 and it went straight to number one downloads. The show's ratings went up after that.
