New David Lynch film Inland Empire shot on DV

I've meet him and got a chance to talk for about 15 min at a dinner. He is a versiorey director. One of my fav's. If you ever get a chance check out his older work. Eraser head is a grate film. David found mini DV a couple of years ago and was fasantated by how easy it was to make flims now days. He has made a bunch of short projects out of Mini DV that our on his site. Ans some are really good. Let us know what you think of the new film I can't wait to see it.

yeah it is a neet film. I got to see it on a 35mm print at a ceremoney when he got a Vangard award. It was cool he did a hour Q & A, We also saw a montage of his other films. Dennis Hopper was there and they talked about Blue Velvet another great film.

Wow, that must have been awesome... His stuff is a little bizarre at time, but I like most of his stuff and I totally respect him as an artist...

There was a free DVD from Avid's website that had some short on in shot on a sony z-1. That footage looked hella weird, probably because of sony's fake 24p... There was a lot of good content from Lynch though, and great tips.

I'm not say it was not from the camera but David has a very strang style.

He's comfortable with the camera, he used it to shoot a commercial as well. The only complaints he seems to have about the camera are it's too light, (he built an aluminum baseplate for the camera to give it mass) and it's focus/zoom rings from hell...

David is a bit late to the DV party, and I imagine he'll be running back to film after this....

But he'll get my 10 bucks to watch his 2+ hours of wierdness....

Lynch was a painter in school then made some Art Films. And eventually got more and more money per piece. Next thing yo uknow, Eraser head.... rest is history. But he definityl was an artist first and it shows. The way he tells stories is very cryptic. liek painting. you cant be too blatant in paintings that have stories, other wise they seem cheesy. I really admire hsi courage to make his work he way he sees fit.

David Lynch has a couple of PD150 camera's for himself and he used them for his web projects and his new 3 hour feature movie Inland Empire. He has stated doing film transfer tests to 35mm and was pleased with the results: it reminded him of the early days of 35mm film.

Inland Empire was screened at the Venice Film Festival 2006 for the first time, where Lynch received a well deserved lifetime award. Find more info via www.dugpa.com

It reminded him of the early days of 35mm? Lynch was directing in 1892? No wonder he's so weird. :)
