Anyone know how to set up a network on two WinXP computers?

I always just guess my way through these things and somehow end up lucky. This time it isn't happening. I go through the wizard, create the network names, and then usually they show up in the "My Network Places" folder. LIke "Chris' Computer". But this time they won't show up. What's wrong?? Someone help!

Oh, using a wirless connection. This exact same connection used to work until one day it stopped. And the network folders for my desktop computer DO appear in the desktop computer's "My Network Folder". But my laptop computers network folders DON'T appear in my laptop computer's "My Network Folder". They aren't even created. Needless to say, the two computer's network folders do not appear in each other's "My Network Folder". They're not communicating for some reason.

Under My connections, Hit tools > Map Network drive, Then hit Browse, you should beable to see and find all network drives.

If you have the disconnected network drive logo, right click and hit reconnect.

Make sure the connection is enabled (goto settings, network connections, find your connection and right click mouse to check). Also make sure the folders are shared (i assume they are but it is always good to check). I have not setup wireless before, but should be similar to hardline. Also make sure both computers are on the same workgroup. Does it show the computers on the network at all?

It's pretty easy. Just make sure you get the right kind of RAM - the faster the better as long as it works with your motherboard. Your local computer store should be able to help you with that.

Once you have the stick(s) all you have to do is snap them in. They only go in one way and you can tell when they are in place because the "holders" literally snap into place on both sides.

here's a good demo: http://www.fonerbooks.com/r_ram.htm

Windows Networks, particularly WindowsXP Networks, have a nightmarish tendency to simply stop working. They will start working again, just as suddenly, and just as senselessly. The only way to hurry along this arbitrary decision to work, is to unhook everything, undo everything, restart, then rehook everything, redo the wizards, and restart. If that doesn't work, try it again. And again. And again. Then, at about 4AM, when you're ready to kill yourself, it will suddenly work. And it will work until you wake up in the morning. It will have stopped again while you slept.

Welcome to WindowsXP Wireless Networking!
