Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone here knew how to simulate the look of a 35mm adaptor minus the associated shallow depth of field, and of course the light loss. I really like the look and the simulated latitude of the 35mm adaptor, but the longer set up times, cost and focussing are just not practical for my situation. Also, while it is nice, a shallow depth of field isn't imperative to me..
So i was wondering if there was an alternative to simulating the look itself that the adaptor produces - you know the characteristically soft, yet sharp look along with how everything just looks smoother and all. Definitely alot more filmic than stock footage. I think i picked up in a previous thread that getting a mattebox with specialty filters would be one way to go, but are there any other ways? And also could anyone elaborate on how a mattebox would help?
Any and all help appreciated! Thanks!
