Nintendo Wii - $250, November 19

according to that article, the the 360 specs changed between e3 2005 and it's release 6 months later, so I'm going to assume the PS3 specs have evolved somehow in the last year and a half. the claims that the 360 is easier for programers to code for I'd imagine is still true.

I have an Xbox 360 and love it. But with regard to HD, it's kind of like the video market. A lot of consumers who own HDTVs don't even know how to get an HD signal! And I bet most Xbox 360 owners are playing on SD TV sets, anyway. In this respect, Nintendo's SD strategy is pretty smart. This approach helps them to significantly undercut the competition on price.

I'm very much looking forward to the Wii. I like how they did the controller because now you are not sitting in that chair with your controller all the time. You are up and moving the whole time...wireless and sensored! Awesome. Getting it the first day comes out!

Another cool feature is that the system is designed to ALWAYS be connected to the Internet--even when it's turned off! It will download game updates, news, etc.

this is from gamespot.com yesterday:

Today, Nintendo confirmed to GameSpot that the Wii will have no DVD playback and will not have an option for a DVD dongle or add-on in its current form.

"They were originally considering an external [DVD] attachment," a rep for the company said of the Wii's designers. "But because the price of DVD players has dropped so much and they have become so commonplace, Nintendo saw no need to create extra hardware options that would drive up the cost for consumers."

not that it matters to me, I have plenty of dvd players, just making sure we're all of the same page.

You can surf the Web with it, via the Opera browser.

but who wants to? ur telling me when you get a Wii, ur going to visit DVXuser using your TV and inputing characters one at a time with the wiimote rather than from where u are right now? Not that it HURTS the console, but its a pretty usless feature.

One suspects they'll release a keyboard for Wii, though one has not yet been announced. And in any event, I have friends with Sony PSPs who use them to read email, even though they don't use them to respond. And I'm amazed at what kids can do with text messages.

Some say the reason Xbox 360 doesn't include a Web browser is that doing so might hinder PC sales.

the reason the 360 doesn't include a browser is because it's silly. Kids use their psp to read email because it's portable. Unless you have a keyboard and a HD display (which the wii doesn't support) you might as well get up and walk the 10 feet to the computer to surf efficiently.
