Nintendo Wii - $250, November 19

I know we have a lot of gamers here.

Nintendo released new details on the Wii today. It will cost $250, and will come with a set of sports games.

This time, does Nintendo have a chance against Microsoft and Sony? Thoughts?

Nintendo has always had a strong and loyal following.

I find that Nintendo has found it's niche (a very large niche) and they always keep us satisfied. Will they sell enough units to be in the running with Microsoft or Sony? No- but in my mind Nintendo has them all beat, always has.

This new system is very exciting, and very cheap, comparatively. I know what I'm asking Santa for.

EDIT: The new Zelda game "Twilight Princess" will be released on the Wii.

Supposedly, yes- t's been said to be one of the first releases.

Actually, word on the grape vine is that the game was designed for the Wii, and the release date for Game Cube has been pushed because they were having troubles getting it right on that console.

So, at first I was pissed that I didn't get Twilight Princess earlier this year; but now I'm excited to play it on the Wii.

This time? It's always a misconception that nintendo is the "loser" of the console battle, but you could argue they've beat the competition everytime as the company has made a profit every year, unlike the competition. That's why you don't see the marketing push or the cutting edge tech in Nintendo systems, they understand those don't make games more fun, unlike Sony and MS who spend bazillions hoping to make it back by the end of the consoles life.

Think about how Sony's selling tyhe PS3 for $600 and still is not even close to making any money, where as the Wii is priced at a much more affordable $250 including a game, and they're STILL making about $50 a pop off each unit sold.

That's why I laugh evertime I hear ppl spouting sales figures and asking if Nintendo will be back to try again next generation. lol (I'm not a Nintento fan boy, but I find the company often needs defending)

Im the biggest Nintendo Fanboy around, but i dont need to defend it, its like being a Mac user... the 2 companies are actually very similar, ive done in depth research and the similarities are earie

its got 25 game coming out the release date, nov.19 the new zelda is one of them and metroid prime 3 is as well. though its wont graphically stand to the others i think this a great start. plus wifi and backward compat... sweetness

I tend to think just the opposite. I doubt that the majority of users will get the HD benefits of the 360 or PS3 this generation.

I'd agree with that too.
Our kids play some games that are almost 20 years years old and naturally are pathetic, graphics wise. In the end, gameplay will always out-do graphics.
And Nintendo seems to understand that.

I've always loved Nintendo because it's such a creative & innovative company.

The Wii strategy is fascinating. They've really deviated from the "more is better" course that Microsoft and Sony are pursuing, and are valuing innovation over raw horsepower.

The Virtual Console is brilliant. People love the classic NES, SNES, and arcade games. Now they can buy 'em all over again.

Metroid Prime along with Super Mario Galaxy have been pushed back till 2007.

It's funny...I consider myself a Sony Playstation fanatic...I have the PS, PS One, PS2 and sooner or later the PS3. But when I think about it...I also own or have owned every Nintendo system that has come out! Without even realizing it! And I'll probebly end up owning the Wii too!

Doing a little reading up on things... apparently the PS3's performance specs are insanely low compared to the XBox 360... interesting... The numbers sound good on the PS3, but when you get down to it... the workable power is actually lower...
