CinePorter™ FAQ

Are there plans to update the cineporter side of the spec-comm site to reflect the new drawings and such. Plus any additional information on features that have been added since the last update, updated release gues-timate. That would be cool if you don't mind. Particularly just new pics of the new design would be cool.
Thanks
Jason

Jason,

We wanted to wait to update our site until we have real pictures of the new chassis. The prototypes should be completed soon. I hope to have some other updates by then as well. We are still trying very hard to release it before the end of the year. There are still a couple of hurdles that need to be overcome for that.

David,

I won't presume that I speak for all of us, but from my perspective, I'd rather have you guys take your time and do things right than to push a product out the door prematurely.

I light of the problems that have been reported with the two other harddrive-based recorders, a solid initial release is absolutely crucial. I would rather wait an extra month or two for the Cineporter to ship, than to wait the same length of time after receiving it for problems to be worked out.

I can live without the Cineporter for now, but once I start using it, I'll be relying on it, and nobody wants a device they can't trust or footage that is somehow corrupt or gets lost entirely.

Thanks for your efforts and for keeping us updated!

Well, I am not trying to dissuade anyone from buying the Cineporter, it is a lofty "idea" for us HVX oweners. I think it would make the HVX an even better buy in the HD market. Money and space has been a detriment to the HVX, and if it is answered in a timely manner, the Cineporter will be well worth the money and then some. I signed up to buy one because I'm still interested in the product, but I feel as though there should be a stronger push for at least an estimated release date (Month Accurate) in order for me to stop looking for other storage solutions. When it comes down to it, I'd rather Panasonic release something like this even for more money- then I could trust the product 100% (not to mention better resale). I think all of us HVX owners who are interested in the Cineporter want this product because we have no other alternatives for real production shooting. Best of Luck, let us know when its coming out!! PLEASE!!

Waiting on the final prototype chassis now. I can post a couple of renderings if you like. Still waiting on a couple of answers from suppliers as well.

David

Your Renderings will be the talk of the town. David post away. I can't even imagine how stressed you guys are over there. Take your time, do it right. We'll be here. :)

Looking pretty good. what are the 12 pin & 4 pin connections in the 3rd rendering?

Thanks for that,
Jason

The 4 pin one is in the battery slot right? So that would be for plug in power?

OMG... Seriouly, Leonardo Divinci Himself could not have designed a better looking piece. Way better than the first, and l am loving the new adpater cord. Amaxing being this I would almost consider a 2gen :).

Also did anyone else notice that the fan casing is similar to the speaker on our camera?

RamJet: The 12pin is the new cable replacing the DVI connection it once had. It is way better. Also the 4 pin is for Ext. power, like your HVX has and the old version of the Cineporter, What I will call Gen 1. :)

Now if we can match camera to cineporter in color, this might look so organic that people might think it came with the camera :)

:) Thanks SurJones,

I think you will be delighted to see real pictures of the CinePorter™ because it will look like it is a part of the camera with the same color, finish and such. :)

David

Thanks Jason,

I got one more picture to throw up here in a few minutes that shows the Anton/Bauer option.
