1 Year DVX Anniversary

It's been one year since I purchased my DVX100a. Durring that time, I shot 3 short films as One, then 2 other shorts. I've yet to shoot a feature.

I'm just curious to know, what was your first year like with your DVX. Did you do enough work, not enough...? And if you haven't had your DVX for over a year you can still weigh in somehow.

knocking 3 films out in one year is crazy, but I did it. Maybe the first 2 wasn't my best work, but I definitely saw improvements on my third. Just like to hear some cool stories about the first year... I must admit I was real nervous when I first got the DVX, but as I went on doing more stuff, the nerves went down... now I'm actually excited to take on the upcoming year. How much did "you" get done in your first year?

I ended up with two shorts in my first year (05/05-05/06)...really wishing I could have done more, but I managed to stay busy. Now I'm actually getting less production work done, but I think my work is vastly improving.

CapitalP...Glad to hear this day in history (with your DVX) had a towering effect on you. Did any of your films include any twins perhaps? Mayhem? Did your movies deal with loss?

Ive had mine almost a year now...and so far Ive shot an assortment of worthless crap. Things are looking on the up though....

EDIT:

Damn...i just got the jokes above....haha

Worthless crap.. :) I guess all of us have that pile of worthless crap in the beggining, as long as you don't give up and keep filming, I believe as a film maker technically you can only move forward... but sometimes you can take a step back depending on your story...

In the first 3 months since i've gotten the camera i've shot 5 shorts and put 30 hours on the tapeheads. I kid thee not.

I'm also thinking about selling the dvx and upgrading my computer and buying meself a nice PS3 replete with a 30" monitor for gaming and computer work.
Any takers?

jk about the selling but i wonder where I'm gonna pull money for a computer upgrade and ps3

When i first got my joint I did a lot of shooting for other people on docs and stuff but I havn't done that for about a year now. The last thing I shot for someone else was a DVD called "Bastards of Young" about underground bands in NJ that started to make it big. Its a pretty cool doc, you should check it out. Other than that I have been trying to work on our own stuff.
