The Top 50 Best High School Movies

Spirit Animal
I hold some disdain for Entertainment Weekly. It has been delivered to my front door for going on 3 years; courtesy of my in-law's and their frequent flier miles. It makes for one of those reads while soaking up a bath or sitting on the throne hashing out the master plan.

I recently stumbled across their article on The Top 50 Best High School Movies and was literally appalled at not only the selection, but the omissions and placement of these films on the list.

Sixteen Candles placing at 49, Clueless chiming in at Number 7, Rebel Without a Cause placing at Number 4 (although I'd have at 3 probably) ...

Risky Business at 40 ? Harry Potter showing up on the list ? And not a whisper of Blackboard Jungle.

Here is the list by EW. I'll be making my Top 50. Feel free to mix these up or add your own.

"Over The Edge" and "Three O'Clock High" didn't even make the cut. What a shame. I subscribe to EW, too. Although I don't agree with 'em most of the time, it makes a great bathroom read.

Oh yeah, "Mean Girls" at #12? WTF? LAME!

I never thought of Harry Potter as a High School Movie. Glad to see my Fast Times At Ridgemont High ranked #2, wish was #1 but I can handle #2. What about Private School, The Last American Virgin, Class to name a few.

I second Three O'Clock High. It's very underrated. I can't believe Rushmore is 24, and Fast Times is 2, instead of 1.

Goonies? The Lost Boys?

And Just One of the Boys wouldn't be on my top 100 films if not for the great full frontal shot... because of that it cracks my top ten.
