Lots of Noise in Wireless system

I recently bought the Sony wireless lavaliere system and I was tweaking it last night with my sound devices mixer and dvx100b and there was lots of background noise. Also, whenever placed on my lapel, it didnt sound too good. Does anyone know of a way to "Clean Up" the sound?

uh, it wouldnt sound too good because the supplied lav is complete garbage (you HAVE to upgrade that, its insane Sony did that to their customers), and that system is known (at least to me) to have a high, breathing noise floor to do with budget circuitry and mediocre companding.

that said, you can get good results with it, but not really for narrative filmwork unless you're careful and lucky.

what kind of noise - hiss , hum or background noise?
It just picks up everything going on plus a hiss (granted, I have wood floors in my apt.) the main thing, is that when I placed it on my lapel, it just sounded low and...bad.

i f you are working in riverbed space , keep the mic as close as possible to the mouth.
when you short the distance in half you get 6 db better ratio for returning sound .
beside that ,keep the transmitter gain as high as possible without distort to prevent hiss .
buy better capsule as Tim suggested .
if you are going to work in noisy places ,think about cardioid capsule which is much more directional
