New TV Series shot on DVX

Hi everyone,

I'm really excited to announce a super hero TV series shot in New Zealand goes to air in a couple of weeks here. The show is called The Amazing Extraordinary Friends and was shot on 2 DVX 102B s. This is the third series we have shot on the panasonics (We made 26 episodes of a series called Secret Agent Men.) We were really hoping to shoot this time on the HVX but they hadn't arrived in the country on time. So the DVX it was - We work them pretty hard, 14 weeks, 12 hours a day in all weather conditions. And apart from a couple of gliches, no prbs at all - check out the trailer at

Do you know Terry Burgher? Also I have a friend that is doing a Hitchcock type film over there in November that is starring Anna Jullienne from Shortland Street do you know of her?

How's that! Yeah Anna Julliene was in both series 1 and 2 of Secret Agent Men, our first kids drama, she was fantastic playing the part of Natasha Ovadatop, a Russian gun for hire - she's really good. what is the project that your friend is coming over for?

Looks good - like a show that would play on the Disney channel in the USA

We would love that! Unfortunately the states seem pretty tight on formats - I don't think they accept DV.... With our first series of SAM disney US said a flat out no - could be the accents though!

He is filming 'A Simple Twist of Fate'.

Also do you know Anna Hewlett? She work on another one of his films called 'Dark Past' which is a feature film based on a true story that took place outside of Auckland in the early 1920's it also has Kate Hawkesby (anchor women on TVNZ One) in it.

It is going up to Mipcom Jnr next month so hopefully we will pick up a DVD distributor for the states then. Checked out your site - pretty cool! Let me know if you need any beautiful shots of New Zealand - I can hook you up with an HD shooter.

Dear Matty,

Sorry for the late response!! It was excellent !! Please tell me one thing, how did you dub or convert your minidv tape to broadcast in tv station?

Huh? There are tons of shows broadcast in the U.S. that are shot on the DVX 100 which is not only DV it is Mini-DV. The list is very long.

We do what we gotta do! - low budgets and everything! What are you doing in Tokyo? Must be an amazing place to work - I have visited there 3 or 4 times and think it is one of the most exhilerating places on the planet!

what did you use for the effects? AE? Any info on the workflow would be wicked. Looks niiice. Makes me happy to own a dvx.

Yeah pretty much 95% was done in AE - the rest was a bit of roto and some 3D - Next season we want to have a full time 3D op to really up the ante. Let me know what you mean by workflow (duh!) and I'll write back.

I've gotta echo HVXguy.

DVD for us in Canada too, eh?

Please.

My kids would get quite the kick out of this.

BTW. Looks fab. Well done.
