A small simple project. After seeing all the wonderful things that folks could do with ABS Ireally did have piepe envy. I could npt however see myself constructing a 35mm adapter. I wishIhad the time to try, but it is not in the cards and I willbe bying onein the verynear future. My dilema was I needed to do somethiing with abs. I meanpeople havemead adapters, diffusion screens, I have seen a boom pole protector or two made from good ole abs.
What it really came downto is what could I use , I mean aside from and adapter...?
I needed a lightweight portable dolly. I am a "run and gun" person mostly these days and there have be several times when I have needed a dolly and either had topay fifty bucks to rent one or do without.
So here is my HUMBLE abs pipe project, not fancy and certainly not for you next feature but more than adequate for a quick roll down the isle between the desks or across a few counters or ..you get the frame.
It comes apart, stashesinmy light stand bag and when I need track I "rent" it from Home Deport (buy it useit bring it back) which beats driving downthe highway with a couple of 12 foot abs pipes onthe jeep.
The trucks are made from 1.5" angle aluminum
The wheels and bearings are from a little kids skate board from wal mart 4 boards at 9.95 each
Two abs "tees" and four pressure test caps and one six foot length of abs long bolts . I drilled a hole in the top over eachtruckfor my tripod points and use large rubber bands made from a bycicle tube to hold it in place.
cost about sixty bucks to make .
