"Great" Movies that Suck

I just realized I contributed to this thread, but hadn't gone back and read some of the earlier posts. Egads. There's no accounting for taste.

I shouldn't be so harsh.

For every one i love (Ed Wood) he bricks another (Planet)

I mean, I'd let him be my cinematographer if he promised not to take things too far over the top. Oh, I thought of another overrated movie. That Will Smith/Tommy Lee Jones movie about martians. Men in Black, that's it. Big steaming turd. Oh, and Dirty Dancing.

Oh, what the heck, here they are, my......

Top ten overrated Cleveland steamers......

Dirty Dancing.
Any Star Wars after the first one. .
Any Batman except the last one.
Eternal Sunshine.
Napolean Dynamite.
The Thin Red Line.
Lethal Weapon 1-6.
Leaving Las Vegas.
My big fat Greek Wedding.
Do the Right Thing. (blasphemy, I know).

WHAT??? WHY??? That movie is great.

Well, I found it pretentious "social analysis", as well as too "subtil" (don't know how to say that in english :) )

In other words, maybe "it's just not my cup of tea" (read this With a strong British accent)

Probably just didn't connect with the movie, personally.

5. Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

This is a brilliant classic.

Now, "Big Top Pee Wee"... oh, that has to be one of the most disappointing sequels in the history of moviedom. Worse than Jaws 2, worse than Alien3, worse than Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, far worse than Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey...

But Pee Wee's Big Adventure is classic!

"Citizen Kane"...anyone seen this? Little low-budget indie film this schmuck called Orson Welles did back in the day...I enjoyed certain aspects of it (his insinuating butler) but it was so sloooooww....

"Oh, it's his sled. I hardly care anymore."

I couldn't agree more. It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen... and I've seen Mr. Jingles:

I think there was a little bit more to it than that. In art, a sled isn't always just a sled. Whatever it mean is your call I suppose. I love Citizen Kane though, and not because I'm told to by the media.

Thin Red Line

I have just come to love this film and am a huge fan of Malick (I did not used too be)

Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuvvvvv the Lethal Weapons; all of them (But 1 and 2 rule)

Barry ! JAWS 2 is such an under appreciated classic. I love it I confess

Yeah it was his lost innocence if I recall correctly. All the same. Sloooow. But I can appreciate an old movie. I was surprised by how much I loved The Maltese Falcon, for instance. That one lived up to its hype entirely.

Oh and tell me you didn't laugh a little bit when Rocco blew up at his girlfriend. "Tell me what color it was, I'll shoot myself!"
