Premiere 2.0 wont recognize Canon GL2

The problem i have is that when i connect my GL2, and go into the capture window, and set up the capture settings to match my camera , it still does not recognize my camera, the only thing i can think of is the firewire ports on my computer they are not on an actual card the are through the motherboard so i don't know if that matter.

Any help would appreciated :)

The first thing I would suggest is that you test the FW port you are trying to use. Many people think that FW is hot swappable, unfortunately they are actually quite tempromental and easly fried plugging in a turned on camera.

Plug in a different FW device to that port to see if your computer recognizes it. If it does, make sure your camera is turned off and then plu it in and turn it on, if your using XP you should get an audible indication that your computer know's it's there. If you don't see it in the "my computer" window then check the camera for any settings that may need to be set to output to the FW.

If it is there start PPro and go to the capture window and make sure you have it set correctly. Chances are is that the reason PPro doesn't see it is becuase your computer doesn't see it. If that's not the case someone else might have a better answer regarding the PPro setup.

Well it seem my front panel is one dead and my back one has power doesnt give/recieve information, i think i'll have to pick up a firewire card.

Thanks for your help though
