(Sorry about the oof. Low light, slow shutter, handheld.)

I am thrilled at my new toys. I haven't had a chance to use them yet, and I bought a Pelican 1400 for them and I like to look at them, but I cant wait to use them.

Pretty, pretty EW100ENG-G2.

I have searched, and I will search again for more info on the girls, but if anyone has any tips for using two directly into the DVX (1 lav, 1 boom / 2 lavs / 2 booms) please give me some hints/tips that I may find useful before I need to use them.

Thanks guys,

Very nice gage. I would be careful of crushing your wireless antenna. They dont' work as well all bent up.

Cheers

I was wondering about that. Leave it to me to F it up before I even use them. I closed the case once, but have left it open until I found out about this. So I guess I'll have to change my layout to keep them flat. Eerrrrrg. I dont think I'll have enough room to lay them flat. I haven't tried, but I dont suppose they are detachable?

Thanks for the heads up.

I don't know specifically about the G2 system, but most wireless antennas I've ever encountered just screw off (threaded antenna/port.) Give that a whirl, but if it isn't gonna come, don't force it, because like I said I've never used this specific system. Have a good weekend guys.
Peace,

-Harry

Unfortunately, you can't remove the antenna on the small G2s; at least not easily. GageFX, just turn the orientation of the units so the antenna just lay across the top of the foam. You can pack 'em so they somewhat overlap. Since you have your current holes somewhat staggered, I think you can make this change without having to start over. I could put up a pic if you like.

pic please, I am going to get a case myself and would like to see your set up. thanks.

I will reconfigure tonight. Thanks for the tip and the photos. I may pull out some more foam and contruct some hard pockets/dividers like in your case.

Good times. Thanks again. Any tips on using the G2s?

Gage,

I set my case up so I can lay the G2's flat, and then cut a small slit in the foam for the antenna, that way even the antenna is fully protected. I can lay 3 on top of each other, then another pocket for B6's in their cases, and I can fit my ListenTechs in too. Works great. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow.

I think I'm gonna have to order more foam. Grrrrrrr. Or buy a block and custom cut it myself. Arrrgh.

I tried putting the plugs back in, but there needs to be such a major change that the plug bits will end up falling out.

Eeeerrrrrrrg.

Do you do sound yourself or have a sound guy? That looks like something I would have if I were a sound guy. (I'm an image only guy.)

nice set up craig, I want to go with a hard case first. Basically I want to fit 2 G2 set ups (non eng) and have room if I end up improving my kit (getting a shotgun or hyper). I assume most use pelican, but I like the storm case for the HVX so I'll probably grab the size equivalent for audio.

Bosindy,

I'm using the Vanguard case - similar to the one Teledan uses. They are very inexpensive, work well, and solid. They are not (IMHO) airline checked baggage or shipping capable like the Pelicans, but since most of my transport is in my trunk, that isn't as much of a problem.

I also do use my Petrol bag and harness, but only when doing ENG style projects. In those cases, I preset my bag the night before, all pre-wired and ready to go - just pop in my NP-1 in the morning and head out. But, the cases are still in my trunk just in case (no pun intended...)

I do have to admit that one think I prefer about the "G1's" is that the antenna was removable. I wish they had carried that over to the G2's. Looks like the Lectro 400's have the same problem (only they have two antennae).

Phil and Dan, what model pelican are you using? thanks.

Like Phil said, my case is an inexpensive one that I would not check as baggage or use in severe weather. I got it off of eBay for less than $20 I think.

Maybe they are not new but I just noticed the hard cases that Portabrace is selling. They call them 'production vault' cases. Anybody using these? They only have half dozen models but seem to be similar to Pelican cases. I point them out because B&H is currently offering a free 15x10x6" (interior) case with any of the other models. So you can get a couple of smaller cases for less than $100. For example:

You gotta like blue though.

-Dan

Yeah, not diggin the blue. I'm a black bag/case kinda guy. For that price though, the Pelli might be going back to Fry's. Here's hoping I find all the foam plugs.

-GageFX

I saw that deal, thanks for pointing it out. Can't beat the price, but yea, not that nice looking. Guess its what's on the inside that counts.

I think I'm gonna supersize to a wheeled case for cam n' crap then use the freeb for the G2. Grrrrrrr. MF*ing G2. I remember back at the beginning of this thread when I was so happy. Those were the days.
