HELP! Sending Out Demo Reels

DVD by far. 99.9% of production places that you would want to see your clients have a way to view a DVD. Also you should host it on the web so you can send a link that people can download it from. I like quicktime beacuse most people have it mac and pc and you can make H264 encode look really good.

Let me clear something up. I am sending this Demos to prespective clients in the Medical, health, Travel etc.
Not a production place.

Also, what is H264?

H.264 is a quicktime codec that pwns all the others. Its a super codec that can create amazing video quality in a small file size. Its pretty much the best codec ever! Shyyeaaa! Get quicktime and encode something to it and youll see.

Well I would still just send DVD's or a link. Everyone has a DVD player. And you can't send a reel on VHS it will look like SHIZ. So they only other option would be to send it via Beta. But if you don't know how to export H264 then I think going to Beta is out of the question and frankly overkill. Unless you are trying to get a job at a top notch place. Stick to the DVD you'll have no prob. Oh the only thing to watch is make sure you burn it on a DVD-R not +R. I have found some players have probs playing the +R's

Beta? They are going to possible Clients

Thanks for the info. But I am the owner of the production studio.
I am sending demos out to large companies, health, medical, Realistate, Industrial.
Trying to get them to use me company for their video needs.

You still think DVD instead of CD?

I was able to render the video to a H263 file from Vegas. But Vegas didn't have the option to go to a H264 file.
I will just go MPG2 and go straight to DVD and create a H263 file for the internet link.

How does that sound?

Yeah DVD is the way to go. They wont have Beta Decks. Thats crazy that Vegas can't do H264 yet. Yeah just do a high bitrate MPEG2 to DVD and youd'll be fine. The thing about DVD is that they just have to find any kind of player. If you burn say video files on a CD then you are going to have to hope they have the right codec installed on their comp to play the files. Kind of a pain in the Arse. So DVD is always the saffest bet.
