Greatest obscure songs.

Harry Chapin (actually any of his songs besides Cat's in the Cradle)

Taxi. I used to listen to it over and over just to experience the depression.

And she said, we must get together
But I knew it'd never be arranged
And she handed me twenty dollars for a two fifty fare
She said, "Harry, keep the change"

Well another man might have been angry
And another man might have been hurt
But another man never would have let her go
I stashed the bill in my shirt

Since the definition of obscure seams to mean once popular, more then 20 years old, but doesn't get any oldies radio play:

Fairytale of New York-The Pogues
Year of the Cat-Al Stewart
Domino-Genesis
Gone Daddy Gone-Violent Femmes
Alone Again (Naturally)-Gilbert O'Sullivan
Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey-Paul McCartney
Psycho Killer-Talking Heads
Enjoy the Silence-Depeche Mode
Second Hand News-Fleetwood Mac (often overlooked song from greatest album in history)
Apache-Sugar Hill Gang :) (Rapper's Delight sucks)
Xanadu-Olivia Newton John (anyone in their 30's and 40's probably All-skated to this)

Cheers

1) A Way: The Bolshoi
2) Vanishing Girl: Dukes Of Stratosfear (aka XTC)
3) The Revolution Will Not Be Televised: Gil-Scott Heron
4) Marquee Moon: Television
5) Pablo Picasso (Was Never Called An Asshole): Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers

Wasn't number five done by Burning Sensations? I believe it's on the Repo Man soundtrack.

Canned Heat - Amphetamine Annie
Cramps - Human Fly
Ween - Baby *****
Feelies - Higher Ground
Ramones - Oh Oh I Love Her So

Amphetamine Annie was written as an anti-drug song, there is a message in the lyrics of Amphetamine Annie about the dangers of amphetamine abuse.

OK so if 60's and 70's is too far back for folks then how 'bout 80's:
Welcome to the Boomtown - David & David
Eyes of a Stranger - Payolas
Whisper to a Scream - Icicleworks
Echo Beach - Martha and the Muffins
White Punks on Dope - Tubes

However, if you want to get into favourite obscure lyrics from obscure tunes then how about in Flakes - Frank Zappa's tribute the those #$%#$% folks who promise to fix and repair stuff doing his own impression of Bob Dylan, "I asked as nice as I could if my job would somehow be finished by Friday" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IudPPlBmJs4)
Album: Sheik Yerbouti (1979)

Chilliwack - My Girl
Diesel - Sausalito Summer Night

Dude, you blew my mind. Those songs were from around the same time, and I was probably like in 2nd or 3rd grade, but I do remember them.

You want *obscure*?
How about this one:

Charlie Dore-Pilot of the Airwaves.

Less obscure, but still obscure:
John Stewart "Gold"
^ Here's the real talented John Stewart :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Glen Cambell "Southern Nights"

Kim Mitchell-Go For a Soda (WTF, the video had credits at the end? & check out the old cable box)

Tommy Tutone-Which Man Are You

I love this thread. So many posts I want to respond to. That song Pablo Picasso is correctly listed as Jonathan Richmond. Burning Sensations did Belly of the Whale.
EDIT ^ I guess both bands did that song. Whoops! My bad.

I like the mention of the Bolsholi & Martha and the Muffins

And who the hell called Killer Queen obscure? I hear that song like at least every other week. Same goes for Year of the Cat, Uncle Albert and Enjoy the Silence. Those songs are very much NOT obscure.

And LOL, Exhumed to Consume. Yeah, compared to Corporal Jigsore Quandry, it's pretty obscure.:grin::grin::grin:
