I saw a post on this before, but they've extended the deadline, and the prize is still 100k :P This has PK written all over it.

Here's some more info from Current:

Current TV in partnership with the Third Millennium Foundation has launched
a contest that seeks to find the best non-fiction short videos (3-15
minutes) that tackle the question, what does tolerance (or intolerance) mean
to you? What are your feelings or racism? Sexism? Ageism? Genocide?
Homophobia? Religion?

The grand prize winner will earn $100,000 cash, along with an additional
$15,000 to a relevant charity of his or her choice. Two finalists will walk
away with $10,000 each. All of the entries are eligible to be aired on the
network. The judges for the contest are very cool (Ed Norton, Paul Haggis,
Melissa Etheridge to name a few).

The deadline for the competition is fast approaching, and we need your help
getting the word out to potential contributors. It would be much appreciated
if could please take the time to spread the word or forward on this email to
as many people as possible. This is a great opportunity for someone to make
their mark, earn $100,000, and make a film that makes a difference.

Go to www.currrent.tv/tolerance or email seedsoftolerance@current.tv for
more information.

Eh, I always look at these things. I always feel like I KNOW I'd never win, so I don't bother.

wow, would have never guessed that was a woman if I saw him on the street.
I don't understand that problem though. If they want to have intercourse with a male... they could stay female? I don't know. It just seems more rough to me to be a woman becoming a man to become gay. Because, people don't know you're a woman that became a man. So now you're homosexual.

I do understand they problems with their bodies though. I guess you can't really say unless you yourself are transexual.

Yeah, if that's the kind of stuff that's getting submitted, then I don't have a chance. Nothing like that here in rural Ohio.

The only way to be sure you won't win a contest is not to enter. I've been working with Current since they launched and they pay producers and air stuff that would be slammed as amateurish on this board -- they're most interested in unque points of view.

What do you have in rural Ohio that they may not have in urban centers? Go find some "ignant" racists and see what kind of nonsense they spew out. Or find a closet type and see how they feel trapped in your community.

Something else to think about is that Current might air your short and pay you even if you're not the winner.

I could interview a gay steer...make jokes, but it's true. Seriously, though, that's not a bad idea, uhrgl.

does Current TV have feature a broad base of content, is is it niche marketed? $100k is quite a prize.

Great contest. Great prize.

I've seen the stuff you all can do. A non-fiction piece would be doable in one month. Even if you're in rural Kansas there are interesting stories and people just waiting to be found. Opportunities like this don't come around often.

Do it.
